M1 /. the HP vs non HP, HP is about an inch lower, larger wheels (gt350 size wheels I believe) , maybe magnaride tuned a little different. But if you pp2 you ll get the lower car, double front spoiler, the larger gt350 size wheels. No Trmec trans but the mt82 feels fine. I had both cars. Nothing wrong with a non HP M1 but my point is with some nice pp2 you ll get more for the money.(or I meant it will save some money, maybe a better overall value?). Less pp2 cars made than M1s.
no rear diff coolers on the pp2, both M1 s have the cooler. Not an issue unless you do some heavy tracking. Best if you drive them all and decide.
Thanks for the clarification.

Mag Ride is really nice though. Every time I hit the twisties it just stays flat and eats up the turns.
It wasn’t a factor for me when I was looking, but I wouldn’t buy another Mustang without it now after having it. It’s like having three different spring/damping setups.

No, no, no. All M1s come with Magneride. There is no difference in tuning. And the only reason the HP sits lower is because of the smaller diameter tires.

The only difference performance wise between the HP and the base M1 is essentially the wider wheels and tires and solid rear sway bar (there are adjustable camber plates too, but they are garbage). All of which can be added separately to a non HP. The rest (spoilers and splash guards) is all bling.

I would tell anyone looking at a M1, that if you aren't going to track your car, you don't need the HP package, because you won't feel any of its benefits off the track. Simply add the HP spoiler and wheels if you like the looks and call it a day.

I struggled with a similar choice. I have a 19 PP2, low miles, and even though I liked the manual, I really wanted the 10 speed auto. I looked for a low mile M1 HP premium with an automatic, and even the manual, but in the end, I decided to stay with what I had.
If I had a non magnaride GT, I'd jump on a M1 HP. Right now I'm in the same ball park as a M1 HP, and it's not worth the money for the gain. I love my PP2; it makes me happy. Just my .02.

The external air-to-oil cooler for engine oil is critical for track use, as I understand it. Only the Mach 1 and (most) Shelby cars have that. From what I've gathered, the non-Track/Tech Pack 2015 GT350s did not. Starting in 2016 they all did.

But isn't everything else mostly the same?
Yes. HP add-ons are completely overblown and trivially added. If you go PP2 then do yourself a big favor and replace the dampers with Mach 1 SKU for about $1000-1500.

So I'll shoot it as straight as possible! I have both a 2022 MACh1 HP Tremec and a 2017 GT/CS Convert Auto sitting in my garage! Both cars are visually STUNNING etc, BUT.....there is NO comparison driving the two! The MACh1 is a street legal track car and the GT/CS is exactly that.....Grand Touring Pony Car. I spent 3 days at Charolette beating the hell outta the exact same MACh1 I own......just a FUN A$$ car compared to a regular GT!

I've had all 3 and based on what you said, its not worth it performance wise to move up. Now, if you want a Mach 1 for the aesthetics alone, then you would get the benefits of the Tremec, MR and added HP, by simply buying one.

But if you plan to do more track days or want that peace of mind that you won't experience overheating issues when you are on track, a Mach 1 fits the bill nicely.

The caveat is, at what price are you comfortable making that decision? Its the height of the summer and you may pay a premium price right now. Wait till fall and you'll probably find a better deal.

Sound advice here…
Also , M1 HP or non will hold their value better than po1 or 2
I never understood the PP2 concept without coolers.

'22 M1 HP owner here. As you've seen, there has been a variety of responses to your post to give you info to help you make a decision. So, I'll just add to it by saying that I have owned an '18 PP1, '20 Charger Scat Pack, and now my '22 M1 HP with the A10. This car (for me) is by far the most fun by a mile. Yes, it's more money compared to what one could do with after-market upgrades on a GT. But, as someone who doesn't want to deal with after-market, the M1 HP is a great car for me.

Another thing; while the general public doesn't know or care about a M1, I have found that many people do as I regularly get compliments, conversations at the gas pumps, conversations at red lights, thumbs up cruisin down the road, people yelling "yeah, Mach1," requests for photos of my car. I've even had kids (future Mustang owners???) who hear me coming down the street and they video record my car as I drive by. I've never had this response before. It's not why I own the car, but it is cool that some people are enthusiastic about it. Now, the "downside" is that I get some dirty looks from Tesla owners, people sitting in traffic with small dogs on their lap, and family van drivers who have those ridiculous family stick figure images on the rear window. 🤣

Go on CARFAX, search for some M1's at dealerships in your area and go test drive both the "base" and M1 HP's. See if its worth it to you.
That is funny. I have to say. The sitting in traffic part….true,,, Believe me, it doesn’t matter if you have the bigger wheels or not.

I have decided to just pick and choose upgrades I want to my base gt. Figure I am still + money after all the upgrades and installs since I didn't get PP1. You can read all my mods in my spoiler. MACH1 is cool, but you can make a better car without the MACH1 name for cheaper IMO. I basically have a pp2 car and plan on putting on whipple in a couple months with the extra $$ I would spend on a mach1.

A GT with a Whipple and a Mach 1 are apples and oranges though.

If you just want to go straight really fast then yeah, super charge the GT and call it a day. The Mach one is a street legal track car with road manners.
