Surprised to hear that people think a front wheel drive car is good. I agree that they can be somewhat fun. They can be economical. They can be reliable.

It's not the fastest, but honestly it may be the best car I've ever driven. It's just about perfect. Decent power, perfect suspension, and an amazing manual transmission. My only complaint so far is that it sounds like shit, but a turbo 4 is never going to sound good.
You owe it to yourself to drive more cars.

Strange the Integra beats the M2.

TBH, I'd take the Integra over a dark horse, but not the M2.

I wouldn't drive the Integra if someone paid me to do it, unless it was an unreasonably high amount of money. Why would I drive that over a V8, RWD vehicle?

The Integra ran a 1:26.6, the M2 ran a 1:24.1. How did it beat it? No way would I choose the Acura over a DH or the M2, regardless of price.

It beat it because the article declared Acura the winner.

Good news is, you can buy what you like, and so can everyone else.

All that said, "Dark Horse" excludes itself from any serious enthusiast based on that gay-ass name. lmaoooo

I read the article, I don't agree with their decision. I agree about the name Dark Horse. Ford has so many iconic names they could have used and they chose Dark Horse, SMH.

For the kind of lap times the DH is setting on those Trofeo RS tires, would’ve loved to see the Boss nameplate on that car.

I’m fine with coming up with something new, but Dark Horse is just dumb.

I remember they did a campaign on what the name should be...fail.

Fair to say an outsized percentage. All the car and gun mags have gone this way for well over 2 decades. No way the publisher will let the editor allow his writers to say anything that could be perceived as negative about a major sponsors product. Not a chance. If the car, in this case, doesnt outright perform well in the event its competing they cant say that, so instead they change the criteria and create some bullshit metrics by which they can appear to justifiably score the car in question high enough to achieve the predetermined and desired outcome.
They say the death of journalism came about because of the pivot away from print media but I'll say a large part of it is this BS. Try it find any decently educated reviews about anything anymore, it's difficult. It's ninnies like this afraid to ruin their chances of getting future press cars and running off sponsors or "influencers" who know nothing about the product but struck a deal to get themselves sponsorship. Maybe I'm just getting more critical as I get older but it really seems like the noise far outweighs the signal out there.

Yeah I get that. I’d be in the same camp as you though, if I don’t want to spend $70k, I’m going used before I buy a new Integra. To me, the Integra is along the same lines as the Camry TRD and the Altima SR and the like. They’re sporty, but are they really performance cars? As you said, to the normal every day driver, yeah they might be. But in actuality they’re really not. Just sporty sedans.
I wouldn't drive the Integra if someone paid me to do it, unless it was an unreasonably high amount of money. Why would I drive that over a V8, RWD vehicle?
I DD an A-spec Integra. For what it is it’s a great little car, none of the Camry/Accord/Altima range offers a manual anymore. It’s not fast, not winning races, but 45 highway mpg on my commute is well worth leaving the Mustang in the garage most days.

Just seems a weird comparison here by the editors. The Type S is pushing away buyers with $10k markups and a huge mpg penalty over the base model.

Just imagining the crap exhaust on the cold start and that FWD torque steer for that "car of the year". I would cry. Looks ugly too. I am glad I no longer look at these magazines.

“Anyone buying this could very well end up a faster driver than someone buying an M2 or Nismo,” contended Orlove. At right around $52,000, the Type S is an expensive Integra. But amid this august group, it’s a steal. “I don’t believe you can buy a better car for less money anywhere else,” asserted Farah.

erm... how about the Civic type R.. practically the same car for around $47K...

I believe they asserted that the Integra came with certain refinements that made it better for everyday driving that the Civic lacked. How those are worth $5K but the potential of the M2 and Mustang weren't worth it we'll never know because now magazines use influencer math.

The markups can be brutal. I went with an Integra over an Si because it was discounted slightly to MSRP, whereas every Si had a $4-5k markup. So really really have to shop around. I assume the Type S won’t be marked up forever, honestly
