Well I just got my answer +5,000 ADM for a C-8 order. I guess dealers do not make enough on other add ons. I am inclined to say no.
You should try Criswell Chevrolet in MD. No shenanigans, just straight up pricing. You give them a $1000 fully refundable deposit and you are put on the list. When your name comes around on the list, Criswell orders your C8 at MSRP. If you are serious about a C8, they are the guys to contact.

I am in SC. Wonder how much to ship. Might be close to the 5k ADM.

Other than renting a car (or fly) to go pick it up yourself, which would be a nice road trip of 500-700 miles, I would try other semi-local dealers. I am fairly confident you will find one within 100-150 miles of your location that will work with you. One bad thing about Criswell is that you will definitely wait a long time before your name comes up on the list. A smaller local dealer may have an allocation ready to go and may sell at MSRP. You won't know unless you try.

Fly in and drive home. It's also nowhere near $5k to ship from MD to SC. You also can order from a dealer selling at MSRP (Criswell, McMulkin, Koons, Ciocca) and do a courtesy delivery at a local to you dealership if you can find one willing. Plenty of options if you are serious.

This is a difficult decision but if it's one that will make you happy and NOT the guy in the next lane then its your call! Is it about stepping up to a more prestigious car? Don't get me wrong, I do like Corvettes having owned 9 including a brand new 2019 GS, which I sold after 8 months because I wanted a Bullitt (my 4th with various years) The C7 was an Awesome car, and a stunning design; but I've also had about 10 Mustangs including my current 19 Bullitt, so I like Mustangs too.

I have thrown the thought on a C8 but for this particular model (C8) it just doesn't seem dare I say, beautiful? The proportions seem to be fighting the design; with the front half looking nice but the back end quite ugly (IMO). The base model includes a lot but also deletes a lot. I would recommend at the least a 2LT. Then you have to add Mag ride, standard on your Mach 1 would be extra; along with the performance Z51 package. One of the things I hated about my 19 GS was it seemed to "scrape" everywhere I went. So maybe front end lift option on the C8 would remedy that issue. (another optional cost of course).

In the end, it's your call. Personally I think the current Mustang generation is just a better looking car than the C8. The only thing I'd consider over my Bullitt, or a Mach if I had one, would be a Porsche 911. (used of course!) In my mind, I've always considered them the German version of a Mustang, within limits of course!
I felt the same way until I saw it in orange. 😎 And the photo doesn't do it justice like in person.

I will disagree with you there. I see C8’s pretty frequently around here and there have been a ton of them produced so far (last I saw was over 100k so far, Jay Leno had their chief engineer on for the E-Ray and he quoted a number well over 100k but I don’t recall the exact number). Total Mach 1 production for S550 isn’t even close to one production year for the C8. The Mach 1 is the more rare car by a mile
I suspected someone would bring up Mach 1-specific numbers, but most people (even some people who appreciate performance cars) aren't really going to know the difference between a Mach 1 and another Mustang. Often they can sort of grok that one Mustang is more "special" than another, but to them, it's still a Mustang.

Again, I'm just talking about shallow curb appeal and "prestige", and silly as those things may be, the Vette wins. Corvettes are not exactly exotic supercars, but they are far rarer than Mustangs.

Fair enough, I assumed you were talking specifically about the Mach given the title of the thread. No argument here that there are far more Mustangs than Vette’s on the road

I am talking specifically about the Mach 1. My point was that if standing out/prestige is a priority for you, even the Mach 1 is not going to stand out more than any Corvette. And that's because, to most people, the Mach 1 is "just a Mustang".

Granted, to those in the know, a Mach 1 just might be cooler than a base Corvette. And to be clear, I'm mostly playing devil's advocate. While we all like when people like our car, choosing what to buy based on what other people think when they see it on the street is silly.

I wonder about the factory pick up? 1500 bucks
Went to the Corvette Museum this summer and saw about a dozen cars get picked up by their owners. They give you the white glove treatment if you pick it up there. I’d say the $995 would be worth the experience.

I have also seen the treatment new Vette owners receive at the museum, it's a cool experience. @kellyreno, the $995 is a drop in the bucket compared to the track events you have attended in a year. If you are bored with the M1 and the Vette scratches the itch, do it man.
Good luck either way!!
