GT500 Review by a Roush Stage 3 and C8 owner

My buddy has a "Channel" on YT. To support him (He helped me ceramic coat my sons new Maverick and will be helping when my Ranger Raptor shows up) I said sure I'll let you review my GT500. Mark and I go back 30+ years. Here is his review. He'd appreciate positve critiques and feedback so feel free to respond. I did drive his C8 while he was doing this. Very nice car and unique driving experience. Of the areas where the GT500 has it over the C8 - Ingress and Egres, TRANSMISSION!!, and green house. I thought I wouldn't like the jet fighter steering wheel but found it enjoyable. Here's the review.

Nice video. So the big question: is your buddy trading in his C8 for a 500? Seemed like he was pretty hooked on the 500 after driving it around

That is a great question! His enthusiasm for it was genuine. I'm betting the Roush has a short leash..... Sometimes it's all about the Benjamin's....

So you have a roush and a gt500? I’m also curious what car is faster. The c8 or gt500? I’m curious cause mine has about the same hp that the gt500 has (689 rwhp). The c8 is really nice but I’m a mustang person. Plus I have a centri which has a totally different feel to it vs a mustang with a pd type.

Feedback.... more views of the car from the driver's perspective and from the outside. Otherwise it's nice to see a Vette guy's take on a GT500.

Just a regular C8? They'll get you off the line but have no chance in rolls, don't ask me how I know

I don’t think the GT500 should be compared to a standard inferior C8. Blew the doors off a C8 a couple weeks ago easily. I hate the fake Italian fake Ferrari look of it. It’s a wanna be , they should’ve left it alone.

I thought it looked great when I first saw it after its release but now I agree with you. The looks haven’t stayed with me BUT I do love early vets, anything before 1970.

I have no dog in the fight but say what you want, the C8 is an incredible performance value. Looks are subjective, what you get for the money is undisputable from a performance perspective.

I've never ridden in a 500, but I did go from Detroit to Charlotte in a '23 Z06 last November. That thing pretty much sh!ts it & gets it. The 500 might take it in a straight line, but don't bother trying to hang with it in the corners. You won't.
