New Sync 3

After years of listening to my little brother expound the virtues and greatness of the Mustang, I finally decided to find out what all the hubbub was about and plotted, mapped and formatted out a new 2015 Mustang GT Premium Fastback/5.0L TI-VCT V8/6 Speed Manual/401A Package/GT Performance package with all the other bells and whistles attached, to order the middle of March 2015 for estimated delivery middle of May, close to my BD.

Then yesterday, brother Dave posted the information on the release of the new Sync 3 (which won't be available until 2016). Damn.

Now I'm seriously debating putting off the purchase until 2016 to take advantage of the new Sync 3.

Decisions, decisions, decisions!!!

Why would you wait 12-24 months for a car because of an infotainment system? The one in there now works well and to loose that much time of driving fun for software seems pointless to me.

Its BlackBerry software. If you look at anything in the last 5 years with BlackBerry in the picture it has been a massive failure.

Because MyFord Touch was a highly anticipated feature for the Mustang. Hell id wait till the 2016 model year to get one with the updated infotainment system.

Hey man I'm stuck on 117hp, so don't feel too sorry for yourself. ;) I'm probably not going to get the car until next year anyway, so I would wait a few more months for the new IT system to come out. Looks like a big improvement - not a total dealbreaker tho if I were looking to buy today.

One of the reasons I wanted to get a base trim was because I don't like the current MyFord Touch. I rented a Ford Edge recently that has the same system, and didn't like it at all; seemed so clunky compared to my BMW's iDrive.

The BMW's software is designed in a way that won't look dated in the future. The Ford software is crappy, in my opinion. Too many buttons on the display (distracting while driving) and it doesn't look eye-appealing. It's like the difference between Windows 98, and a current Mac OS.

I just read an article about the new Sync 3, and if they make it nicer to use (as the article states, simpler is better), I might get the premium instead.

Here's the article that talks about Sync 3. They mention, "The company isn't yet saying which vehicle will get Sync 3 first". But it will be available in 2016 models. The pictures show them testing it in a 2015+ Mustang interior... Guess what car will get it first.

Ok, you do that. While you're not driving the car waiting for a software version, I'll be actually driving mine.
I get a new car every 3-4 years so waiting for a piece of software that we don't even know yet if it'll be good is a waste of time.

For me, it's worth to wait for the 2016 models if you want the premium trim. This is a feature you interact with every day, and it looks like it is much improved. Right now, Ford production is going full steam on the new Mustang, so we can get 2016 models earlier next year. I'd say the wait would not be more than 9 months, if a 2016 is ordered in summer. They might even have a 2015 1/2 change.

All software looks dated in time. Disagree? Give me a single example.
