$38,750 USD right off the truck. Pretty sure it will hold it’s own against any “hot hatch” it comes across.

Well…for the record the 10 speed mustang zero to 62 =4.4 seconds in perfect conditions the A45 = 4 seconds …I have a 6 speed mustang automatic and no way will it run with the A45 …and that is a five litre mustang…now add in the handling straight out of the box …are you still sure you agree with your comments above …think karate expert versus a sumo wrestler

Just for clarity the A 45 is the fasted hot hatch on the planet and I dont think many of you have encountered one at a robot or even in traffic and your trying to pull it, out the box it’s 350kw stock before mods …the A45 we get here locally

i think a lot of comments are made about a car many of you know nothing of? Google this article ….@silver bullet

I don't think anyone's questioning that the A45 is fast, it's just that it's not super relevant. We don't get them in the US, but they're around $75K usd. A Mustang GT can be had here for half that. I understand that the euro model usually costs much more than it does here, but the car's capability isn't going to reflect that inflated export price. It's supposed to be an economical, fun vehicle with some character. The fact the highest tier A class can beat it in a drag race/on a track isn't particularly embarrassing. There's always a faster car out there, especially when you're spending more money. It's also somewhat unfortunate that the euro model's power figures are deflated compared to the US cars. My car made over 300kw on a dyno, bone stock with cats and everything.

Doubt you may have even heard of a Performance Pack Level 2 handling option that was first available on late 2018’s. Adjustable magnetic dampers and square 305 sticky Michelin Cup 2’s with a few extra goodies. 0-62 is a driver’s race. Pretty sure handling in the corners won’t be an issue. I’ll stand by my previous comments.

I see what you're saying. I suppose my general point was that the Mustang isn't really designed to be fast, especially not on a race track. Now a GT350 or a GT500? Those are designed to showcase what the platform can do. The GT trim is supposed to be an enjoyable grand tourer with a lovely engine. I gave US pricing to give a better understanding of what the car should be judged against. Given euro pricing, the Mustang will never be a "value" choice like it is here. And as you say, you guys can't easily hop it up like we can here to beat pretty much anything.

I personally don't have any bias that these are the greatest cars to ever grace the earth, or even that they're numerically great by objective terms (they aren't). But what's important is that they're fun. Very fun. Despite all the shortcomings. I'd have no issue getting worked by a Megane RS (which is an awesome car btw), because I'd have fun doing it. And unlike most hot hatches, the Mustang is fun all of the time on the street. That was one thing I didn't care for with my GTI. It was super fun in its element, but as soon as you were doing normal commuter duties, I was practically falling asleep. No character to enjoy, no sound, nothing.

No they are not.
The A45s starting price, new from the dealer is more than 68.000€. My Mustang, full optional, new from the Ford dealer was 58.400€

So how is a 15% more expensive car, "half the price"?

Look,
I'm not saying it's a bad car, but that many people here have a biased look on reality and reporting facts that are merely not true.

Sure you can tune a "bad" platform, bad in the sense that's not purposely made to be on a track but to go and fetch groceries, to perform well in a circuit.
As well you can tune a "good" platform, good in the sense that it has the torsional rigidity and other amenities much more orientated towards a sport usage, to be a Grand Tourer.

But the S550 is definitely much more "car" than any hot hatch, if you know how to drive and what to look in a car.

In your post you refer to right off the truck…that’s not the same as what you mention here 😐

Honestly the GT is designed to go get grocery's, tour the country and be comfortable. You need a Mach 1 ot a Shelby if you want an off the truck track capable car. I'd say 95% are happy just to have the powerful V8. Also looks like in my neck of the woods convertibles are more popular then the coup. Tells me people just want to look good. Actual performance is a distant back seat for these people.

I smoke hot hatches and all the turbo 4 banger crap that like to play. Hell my Son loves the German cars. He has spent a lot of money on his SQ5 and just keeps up. Now he is talking about an SQ7 or some other Audi's that I have no clue about.

Yes there is always a faster car. All I can say is upgrade your Base model to a performance model then give your opinion.

Yes it is, the other goodies are standard equipment with the Performance Pack Level 2 option; stiffer springs and anti-roll bars, unique front splitter and rear spoiler for additional down force, special Magneride, steering, and ABS tuning. It pushes the GT version a little closer to the GT350 handling. A very fun affordable car straight from the factory that is quite capable. Unfortunately, they discontinued the option at the end of MY2020 to make way for the Mach 1 at a considerably higher price point.
