The deal is finalized and I'm signing documents remotely before flying out to drive it home.

It's about 1,000 miles road trip back; it's in pristine shape (1 owner) so I'm planning to use blue painters tape on the front end/side mirrors. I've read some people have issue with trakk tape / trakk armor leaving a lot of residue, thus the painters tape instead.

Any other considerations for the road trip? I've also thought of bringing a quart of oil along just in case.

It still has over a year of power train warranty and my plan is to add at least 3 years of ESP as well.

Excited to finally be getting a gt350!

Good luck with the transaction and have a very safe and enjoyable trip bringing it back home! Congrats and when time permits, post up some pics!

Painters Tape +1, it will work, who cares if it looks funny. Do front bumper cover, mirror caps, the edge above the windshield, A-Pillars, and the rear 1/4’s directly behind the doors.

Be sure to thoroughly check the car all over before taking it and also check all fluids on level ground while cold before heading out on the journey. Top off where needed.

If it’s a 1 owner, be sure to get anything that should have come with it, which may be:
- Specific Shelby Owner’s Kit/box/docs
- Specific Shelby Owner’s Manual Supplement that should accompany the original Owner’s Manual in glove box
- Car cover (if it was included on original window sticker)
- Original Window Sticker if owner still has it. If it’s MIA, you can get a copy via CarFax OR the “window sticker” thread on this site.

Bring oil, coolant, any rags/microfibers, and a small tool kit for the journey (just in case).

Have fun!!

Thanks!

The gt350 was coming out around the time I took a little hiatus from sports cars but I've had my eye on them since so I'm pretty excited!

Congratulations! You will LOVE IT! I would only add pick up a can of fixaflat.

I have driven my 2020 350R on a 3k mile roadtrip (2 days of over 700 miles each) and the car was wonderful. No aches or pains and I am in my 50s. Oh, I did use a cable to hook up to my phone for Android Auto so I could listen to music on Youtube and use the maps (my car does NOT have the electronics upgrade). Worked great.

Big congrats. I'd take a tire plug kit and a mini-compressor. I hate the idea of picking up a flat and having to leave it on the road or get it towed. Do they come with tow hooks front and rear in case something more dramatic were to happen? I like the tape idea, good call.
EDIT: Take a dashcam and power cord.

Congrats! Always wanted to buy a car and drive it back home. Check the tires/tread, start her up, hit exhaust button, lower windows, then hit some fun roads on the way home and realize you made the right purchase :-).

Smart to cover up impact areas and bring some oil. I would measure before you head out and then when you get home. Manual says 15 minutes after shutoff. Just do the same way every time so you can see if she burns any after the 1,000 miles.

Then schedule tech to come out for warranty. Somewhere in that time frame take some pictures and post up here please!
