Great looking ride! Congrats!

Question for you...you have what appears to be hood pins in the radiator support but no actual attachments to the hood?

tempImageP9KIc9.webp
My car is a 2018 and didn't have the updated support. I had purchased a gt500 radiator support(with pins) so I could essentially use factory pins with the carbon hood. I sent it to Shelby for install. Unfortunately SA called and said they didn't feel comfortable drilling the hood due to location on the hood after the installation so they were not used. I totally understand because if anything didn't work, it is hard to eat the cost and labor on the painted carbon hood. For the most part the experience with Shelby has been really excellent. The hardest part was getting the correct information because there haven't been many of these packages sold. Mostly, I believe, due to the GT500 being the big dog since 2020. It was very difficult to find out what hood was offered and what were the limitations of what they could/would do. If you try to google it, the only resource was the SA site (with no pics of the hood)and a single post in this forum and it kind of derailed. I am hoping after pickup I can throw some information out that will help anyone else considering having this performed.

What a great way to give your new-to-you GT350 a refresh and upgrade!

And a Rt.66 trip home will be awesome. There are some really good books and videos out there that show all the cool things to do along the route on a state-by-state breakout, so a bit of homework before the trip will result in lots of great memories and photo-ops.

Safe travels!
Thanks, I have been researching and watching videos. I think I have locked down most of the "must hit" places on the trip. I am open to suggestions from anyone that has made the trip though!

Presuming that you'll pick up the Rt.66 trail somewhere in western AZ, some favorites along the part of the road that you'll be travelling are .....

1) Oatman, AZ - photo op with the local wild burros (a fav of the Mule!)
2) Seligman, AZ - Snow Cap drive in
3) Joseph City, AZ - Jack Rabbit Trading Post - "This is it!"
4) Holbrook, AZ - Wigwam Motel photo-op
5) Winslow, AZ - "Standin' on a corner...."
6) Lupton, AZ - Chief Yellowhorse Trading Post - rest stop to the west along the frontage road is the old roadbed of Rt. 66 and was a filming site in the 1939 Grapes of Wrath movie with a very young Henry Fonda
7) Gallup, NM - El Rancho Hotel - tons of history and a good overnight stop
8) Tucumcari, NM - Blue Swallow Motel - another great overnight stop (Tex-Mex food at the Lizard Lounge is really good, too)
9) Amarillo, TX - Cadillac Ranch (bring extra shoes if recent rains - very muddy) and stop at the Big Texan for a ridiculously large steak dinner - free if you eat it and the sides in the allotted time
10) Shamrock, TX - U-Drop Inn photo op at an art deco era diner

Happy trails!!!!

Great call on sending it to Shelby…..you get a CSM number….now its a Shelby. I sent a car out there a few years back. Communication was not good but the work was spot on.

Shame they weren't able to get the hood pin setup working as I don't know if I would fully trust the carbon an the latch alone on that hood given the massive amount of flutter these cars get from the factory. I will say though that venting the hood has resulted in less flutter on my car, hopefully it's enough to keep yours safe.

Surprisingly it is REALLY GOOD FOOD too... Read about the record holders.. At one point a 135lb girl came in and ate one in record time and then downed A SECOND ONE in one sitting.

The rolls are the bomb... I think my kids could have eaten several more orders.
