How are you changing oil & filter at home

I have yet to change mine, but I did buy a set of Race Ramps; the model purchased has less than a 7% grade, allowing me to drive up on them with the front splitter attached. They're also lightweight and I can put them in the car.

Waiting for Holiday specials, for Pennzoil UP and a Femco or UPR drain plug. The factory plug is fine and all, but it appears to be an all-or-nothing event. I like the idea of attaching a hose and gradually letting it out.

Edit: as others have pointed out, a jack and jack stands. If you have not already installed them, jacking rails can help; I installed a set from Steeda for more jack placement options.

Have you tested the ramps to see if the car will clear? I have been looking at getting a set of these. Thanks

With me hands, ramps, oil filter wrench, proper socket, drainage pan, carb cleaner to spray down any drips, and some old towels.

Old oil is disposed of into a 5-gallon bucket and when it's full, it gets taken up to the local Auto Parts store to be recycled.

The extra length and gradual incline should help with your lower splitter. What I’d be curious about is they say those ramps accommodate up to a 10” wide TIRE. A 285 tire is 11” so you guys with the HP will be even wider than that. They make these for up to 12” tires but clearance might be an issue for GTPP/M1HP folks

I am curious as to what @Skye experience is with those ramps also, if they really can accommodate a larger tire. I’m looking at a set as well and was leaning towards the ones I posted but if Skye says his work, I’d rather have the longer, more gradual incline as well.

Closed permanently? You could always go to Ft Rucker if you have the time or don't mind driving that far.

Remove drain plug. Change filter. Replace drain plug. Clean/wipe. Done.

Race Ramps work for me. I’ve got a rubber mat I stick in between the ramps just in case a little oil spills

I wasn't aware of it, but someone else pointed out the Ford Pass App allows you to upload your personal service records; these will show up for viewing by Ford and CarFax.

Good info! I didn’t know, and was wondering if someone would think the oil was never changed regularly if you did it yourself.

The angle is too steep for the PP front splitter otherwise I would just drive up on them.

Grab 2 3 foot 2x4's or 2x6's and put them in front of the ramps. Drive on the wood then the ramp. Works on my lowered GT

Quickjack to lift. home depot orange bucket on top of one of those wooden moving dollies rolls in and out super easy and sits very close to oil pan, making no-spill changes a breeze. Also great for old oil storage and transportation for disposal. The rest is very standard process, not sure what to write about it. Also don't understand what the issue is with oil filters? I unscrew it half way and wait for oil to drip out. Takes under 10 min with no spills.

I use ramps. The hole for the oil pan seems set up to drain the oil at an angle.

I use a 12" groove joint plier to twist the bolt off. Saves my hand from getting drenched in oil and my forearms from getting burned by the catalytic converter.
