Spoke with a friend who still works at Ford in the Engineering Department I retired from. The Engine Department is being hit hard by the headcount reduction; stands to reason if the gas engines are on the way out. Word is, lots of skilled older people are leaving, others are disgruntled knowing it's just a matter of time for them as well. What does that mean for the build quality of any forthcoming V8? Good luck if you have one on order, who knows how this is all going to play out? Sorry for the negative post, but it doesn't hurt to be aware of such developments.

Friend Pharley is Phuking the Duck. Said times to be sure. His legacy does not look to be a good one from my perspective.

The current 5.0L V8 has been around for a long and has had a ton of R&D already put through it. The next generation mustang GT will carry over the same engine maybe with new features. Then eventually they will switch to electric.

Ford is probably not developing a brand new V8 anyways.

My wife is a salaried manager in MP&L at Ford, a close friend she's worked with for 15+ year's was laid off out of the blue yesterday.

I highly doubt this effects the engine quality, but these things are very sobering.
Yup, this is what else I learned. Unlucky employees will get notified they have a 15 minute meeting scheduled with their boss. They are told the bad news, then are escorted out the door.

You missed the point my friend. Of course it is the same engine, but there are quality concerns when built by pissed off employees.

Don’t think they be developing me as a EV customer.

Had that happen to me after 14 years at a company it’s a very bad experience. I wish all the folks that lost a job all the best.

I would worry less about the current motors, than I would all cars made during the Pandemic and just after.
The general malaise of the employees having to deal with the virus and starting and stopping their jobs. The current supply issues etc. Will create a less than ideal environment IMO.

Lot's to worry about now days. But that's up to Ford quality control.

I deal with all brands of new cars in my shop. I have seen all kinds of abnormal issues lately from Cadillac to BMW.

Agreed, it kills everything in your life. Complete standstill, mortgage worries, no more disposable income, kid's sports equipment, family interaction, spouse, anxiety, when will the axe fall, search for options. Complete horrible blow to you and family.
