You didn’t see a 1000hp rated short block for under $4500.

Figure labor at 25-35 hours.
As per above comment, looks like a short block replacement is about 24hrs of labor + removing and reinstalling the blower components as well. I'd guess 30 or so hours.

Ok he just got back to me with the diagnosis.
Spun engine bearing cylinder 8 the others are fine. They sent me pictures lmk if you guys wanna see them. They don’t rebuild the factory engine but they have a couple short block options. What would it cost to repair this ? Idk if it’s worth repairing bcuz what if the other cylinders just blow. They’re build Short block is for 6k. Compression is lower. What do you guys think? How much power is this good for ?

@Vertex @Cory S thoughts on that built short block ?
I unfortunately don't have lots of knowledge on that department and don't want to throw any random opinions out. I just know I would do a little research before pulling the trigger on anything like that though. Others will probably have more info on that matter however. I just have access to looking up labor time for doing stuff like this is all as I do work ta a dealership so just thought I'd help out a little in that regard.

Since it's at their shop it would cost almost as much ordering another short block.

Will they warrant it?
The slightly lower compression will allow more boost.
The parts list on it look descent.

Keep it at 11:1.

I knew it was a spun bearing. You never forget those sounds.

I agree, as soon as I heard it, it was like being transported to the jungles of Vietnam. I'm not at all surprised #8 was the victim either. Given it's a reman, there was probably a mistake made somewhere. Maybe the crank had damage on the #8 journal that was missed and they slapped new bearings on it anyway.

If you aren’t doing the work yourself don’t buy an assembly. Buy the short block from brenspeed or go with one from rpg (1,200hp rated, 6,800, 6month warranty).

I would suggest rpg, heard good things from them.

Is it me or do the coyotes seem to have more issues with the number 8 cylinder, rods, bearings, Pistons etc??
