15 - 17 Gen 2 with the 6r80 is the most reliable combo for big power.

Even the 15-17 manual MT82 seems to hold up better than the 18 - current

Of course the 10 speed is faster but for how long?

The 15-17 Gen 2 motor seems better for boost although the Gen 3 is certainly awesome as well

The gen 2 were 11:1 but also had fairly suspect head bolts, at 11mm and not as deep, they're a liability for head lift in "big power" situations.

The summary of the discussion is that previous gens tend to have more seat time and experience when tuners deal with things like shift strategies, etc.

The 10 speed is a game changer for sure, but above a certain power level, both the A10 and 6R80 are going to have to be upgraded and modified in order to hold up. Clutch packs, planetary gears, shafts, all come into play at a certain point, but for anything mortal, say up to 900 rwhp, the A10 is pretty tough to beat. Not that the 6R80 can't be made to haul the mail, but if you're trying to get a 10 second car, the A10 is going to punch higher than it's weight.

If I were trying to get to sub 10 seconds and trying to do it the quickest/easiest, I'd get a 2018+ with an A10 and slap a procharger on it, E85 and tune, a fuel system, some decent, minimal rear suspension components and shave as much weight as practical and it's tried and true 9 second, reliable, simple car all day long.

Basically any 15-21 5.0 automatic is going to rock for boost. you can get into the 7's easily with enough cash.

I have never seen one head bolt failure or for that matter, any cylinder heads lifting even with 30 psi on a gen2 coyote.

Which components are stronger for handling boost and/or abuse?
https://www.motortrend.com/news/2021-ford-mustang-mach-1-shelby-gt350-gt500-details-photos/

"The Mach 1 comes standard with specially tuned MagneRide shocks, stiffer anti-roll bars and front springs, and firmer rear subframe bushings. But there's some Shelby DNA in its suspension as well. The Mach 1 sources its rear toe links from the Shelby GT500.

Another engine upgrade that the Mach 1 inherits from the GT350 is its oil cooler and oil filter adapter, which work in concert to reduce oil temperatures. With those parts, Ford claims the Mach 1's engine oil runs 50 percent cooler compared to a Mustang GT's.

With the GT350's Tremec manual you also get its auxiliary transmission cooler. Additionally, the Mach 1 receives a second air-to-oil transmission cooler that Ford notes improves cooling by 75 percent.

Looking at the Mustang Shelby GT500, you might think it has aero parts to spare—and apparently it does. The top-dog 760-hp GT500 lends its rear diffuser design, with its characteristic triangular vents, to the Mustang Mach 1. Additionally, the GT500 tosses its rear axle cooler to the limited-edition model.

In order to fit the wider tires that come with the Handling package, the Mach 1 receives unique wheel lip moldings. It also includes rear tire spats from the GT500, which help route air around the meaty new rollers and reduce drag."

mainly the coolers, but I think front hubs are also stronger along with stiffer front suspension which may help handle the increased front weight of a supercharger.

Another site lists these differences compared to a GT :

  • Additional engine oil cooler
  • Shelby GT500 rear axle cooling system
  • Shelby GT500 lower rear diffuser
  • Shelby GT500 rear suspension toe-link
  • New front aero splitter (22% more downforce than a GT with Performance Package)
  • Stiffer rear subframe bushings
  • Stiffer steering I-shaft
  • Stiffer sway bars
  • Stiffer front springs
  • Brake booster from former Performance Pack Level 2

I seriously hope this is a misprint....

Ok so cooling. But I don't see a single component listed in that article that is "stronger" and thus better at holding boost compared to a GT or Bullitt.
Every single one of those things is beneficial for longevity and being boosted
