Shelby GT Info

Shelby says they use a FP supercharger, but I would assume that means its really a Roush supercharger. Looks just like it...

Because I would think it would affect the value if it left the factory as a GT and was modified as opposed to being a real GT350 or GT500. IDK but to me it would matter.

The fact you can't look at that car and know it was NEVER a GT350 or GT500 really makes me question how well you know Mustangs...

Could be. I know I'd value it more than a GT500/GT350.

But, really, such things are worth what people are willing to pay for them. What they value them at.

I'd value it as less than a regular GT in the future. Shelby packages are no different than Saleen, Roush or Steeda ones. Mostly just FP power parts + either their own or another company's handling bits + some wheels and a front lip change and decals. Everyone uses the same formula.

Value is in the eye of the beholder so it is 100% personal preference. For me there has always been something magical about the Shelby name that none of the other mentioned even come close too. Not taking away from their cars ( I love Steeda) but a Shelby is a Shelby.

This particular one does not have a Shelby VIN but for the money looks well worth it. Personally I would reach out to Shelby to get the particulars.

I’m guessing you have never been to their Las Vegas facility. No one that has would ever make that type of statement or come to those conclusions.

No I have no reason to ever want to be. Look at their cars. Roush performance parts, Ford Performance parts, rebranded parts by other makers, Scott Drake parts, Other than perhaps a front bumper and hood, nothing about those car impresses me at ALL. I can build it using other companies catalogs. Show me them at a track testing anything, show me them DEVELOPING a new part. Don't show me a warehouse. Hell they don't even make their own Intake tubes.

"Mageneride vehicles get springs/bars/tune" (100% guarantee its the $900 FP kit i have on my car now)

Rebranded Borla catback(wouldnt be amazed if it was a FP catback with SHelby tips)

Name anything they develop to put on a car that's not just looks.

All they do is develop appearance kits to put on cars loaded up from the FP catalog. Their own brochures even point to this.

I can see where you are coming from. Its unfortunate in todays time that we cannot have a modern Shelby, Mr. Norm, or Yenko, that really do R&D. Roush and Steeda do most for our passion, but Gary Patterson at Shelby really is trying to keep what Carroll started going.

When they first became available in 2008, I bought a Shelby GT/SC convertible. Great car.

Because of the deal that Mr. Shelby and Ford had, unfinished Mustangs were sent from Flat Rock to Las Vegas to be finished and sold as Shelby GTs. Back then, there was a saying, “The Shelby GT500 is a Shelby Mustang built by Ford and blessed by Shelby; the Shelby GT is a Shelby Mustang built by Shelby and blessed by Ford.”

That all ended a while ago and is no longer the case between Ford and Shelby American, but I still believe a good bit of the magic is still there in Las Vegas.
