Mach 1 features not available on GT's (other than the obvious)

So im currently sitting in a 2020 GT prem, PP1 A10, car has less than 5,000 miles on it. I love the car, and i am considering just keeping my current car and throwing a tune at it and calling it a day, car is already lowered with exhaust and has every option minus magneride and PP2. However the Mach 1's keep grabbing my eye, i love the exterior styling and do like the idea of being a limited run and something other than just a GT. When building them in the configurator it seems certain options are not available however on a M premium with the handling pack, such as no adaptive cruise, no rear parking sensors, and no selectable ambient lighting. Looking to see what other little hidden things might be given up, and thoughts on this swap? Its a hard pill to swallow on the fact that the engine is the same and alot of the other GT elements are still there, and the interior is the exact same as my current car minus a plaque and door sill plates. If i didnt own a mustang it might have been a no brainer but this has me back and forth every hour or so lol. I am also considering getting an M2 comp as well which is a totally different machine to the Mach, but IMO the Mach wins in overall exterior appeal. Thanks in advance.

One question I would ask in noting you have a PP1, is are you looking to track/autocross the Mach 1? If so I would forgo many of the options and go for Recaro ( cloth ) and the " Handling Package, " maybe the red calipers and call it a day. Weight is a major negative in looking at a competitive package and stereos, with more speakers, leather power seats and all the other gizmos that won't make the car quicker could easily add up to 50-100 lbs. on some cars. Just a thought, and I am assuming with a PP1 and your mention of modding your Stang up to PP2 level and beyond , that track events or autocrossing may be part of your future thoughts?

The Mach 1 has tuned magneride suspension, GT350 bushings, GT350 front sway, GT500 diffuser, GT500 tips, Tremec 6 speed, transmission cooler, differential cooler, and a unique exhaust.

The handling pack has the wheels and the splitter and has adjustable camber plates.

The fact that you want the A10 makes it not so much different. One of the huge differences I'm finding is the handling pack is pretty solid without any modification out of the gate. Lots of grip and love the unique wheels.

If I had a 2020, I would not make the swap especially with the A10 and you wanted a Mach 1 with the A10. You could probably add the coolers yourself if you wanted that for tracking specifically. I came from a 2017 GT Premium so this was a huge upgrade for me.

Im aware that the M has parts borrowed from the GT350 and magneride with chassis tuning. Seems like the overall daily driving experience would be fairly on par with my current setup. I do love the wheels on the M but not enough to move into a new car if the experience isnt dramatically different from my current one.

It's not which is why I said if I had a 2020 GT Premium, I would not have swapped. You should be looking at the S650 when it drops.

To be honest this has also crossed my mind, hoping the design doesnt come out ugly as hell though.

Sounds like you have made your decision, and I would recommend going for the Mach 1 based on one simple principal ---why mod the car to be like a Mach or PP2 , when the money spent would likely put you near or close to the cost of said Mach 1.

.........and you are moving up 2 years.

• Sale price of your car
• Tax, Title, Registration
• Insurance differences
• Cost of acquiring a mach 1

I'd compare it to the cost of doing what will make you happy with your current car. That might mean a suspension swap of a few cosmetics you like.

Then make your choice. With the crazy used market you'll probably come out okay if you're willing to wait. The trick there is the used market could cool off, and You're probably into fall for delivery. If you buy off the lot paying MSRP+ and tax will be a killer.

The Mach 1 is more than just a GT with added parts. It is a classic, iconic Mustang. Just like a Boss, or maybe to a lesser degree, a Shelby. If that means something to you then I say do it. If it really is just about all the parts then you need to decide what they mean to you.

This right here is why I got a Mach 1 over a GT. Although I did not already have a mustang I was willing to fork over the extra money for one. I also got elite and handling packs in mine as well though. Absolutely love the car even though I didn’t get to do any spirited driving in it yet before I had to park it for winter. Next week I should be able to finally get it back out.

Depends on how you do it. You can save on tax with a trade but-

• If its on a lot now you aren’t getting a great price on the M1 and have to take the offer from that specific dealer
• If you’re waiting the market for used cars might cool before the M1 shows up. Even then you are still limited to the dealer offer for the tax benefit.
• You might be compelled to drive that car a long ways to trade it in with the dealers that are giving good prices instead of just flying out and picking up, so don’t forget to add in those travel costs and time.

Its hard to know how the numbers work out until you price it out. Unfortunately you won’t know how much a dealer tries to sandbag trade value until you’re there.

The Mach 1 also has the brake booster lifted from the PP2-this is often forgotten.

I had a 2021 Mach 1 on order last fall but it got cancelled by the factory. The dealer softened the blow of the cancellation by telling me they had a 2020 PP2 coming in with only 1300 miles. Amazingly it was the same color and specification that I had ordered, Race Red with cloth Recaro seats. Obviously I was losing the Tremec, coolers, digital cluster, and exclusiveness but I was saving $15k! I had them swap out the Cup 2’s for PS4’s and took her home.
I would certainly have preferred the Mach 1 but the PP2 is awesome in it’s own way and I’ve got money “left over” to personalize it.
