Hey Guys: Thanks to all for the feedback . Just sad that Ford has had this manufacturing defect for over 20 years and still has not or would not find a solution. Merry Christmas to all.
Ford's solution is warranty ... 🙃 🎅

Hello,

I was washing my GT350 this afternoon and I noticed some bubbles in the area where the windshield sits. My concern is that it is not in the hood, but the roof/windshield ledge.

It's is a 2019 and I have only 7k miles on it. I was surprised.

Since I'm under warranty, I'll contact a dealer, but what are your experiences with this issue?

Here are some pics. When I touch it, they are flexible :curse:

^^^ If it's flexible, then maybe is just some left over sealant under the paint - ?.

That’s seam sealer, not a defect. Not done especially well, from the looks of it, but not a defect unless it leaks.

Don’t keep an eye on it, Make an appointment and have that checked. I can already see slight cracking of the painted surface in those images. Water finds path of least resistance; water intrusion into that crack is already a concern. If the crack gets wider, more water intrusion and eventually rust from the inside out.

Not trying to panic you, but definitely look closer at your images you posted, the cracking is clear…

There are threads on here with some having severe cracking at the rear window channels, not many at the front as yours. This one is the most complete with M6G owners experiencing severe cracking at the rear window channels:

Certainly seems like a good idea to thoughtfully remove all the excess material, getting back down to the base and re-apply, so it is nice, smooth and even.

From my perspective, it looks like assemblers realized the quality was not good, removed what they could, re-applied the epoxy, and painted over all. There's the smooth "blob" as it were, but then the areas with the hard lines like some of the material was chipped away and some left behind. The material or paint cracking?

Thanks for the feedback :like:. Yes, I read the entire thread. That is so disappointing. I checked my rear window channel and there is a small crack there too. My car was always in the garage, and only 7,500miles in almost three years.

I guess I'll schedule an appointment with Ford, but I'm not sure if I'd like them to do this kind of service. I.e. how do they do the new painting? only inside the channel? Because I don't want a repainted car. Besides that, here where I live, I had the worse experience with dealers. :curse:

Also, my point of going to Ford is only to not lose the warranty period and fix a fabrication problem.

If this starts to be a problem, then I think I'd just sell my toy.🤷‍♂️

I have not had any warranty experience with Ford, so I'm afraid I cannot speak to that. Shaking hands, introductions and discussing the issue will give you a feel for the dealer and the way ahead. Ask them to explain the process, start-to-finish. Carry questions with you, if you are like me and would forget some of them. If you are not comfortable at the end of the conversation, walk away and try another location.

Regarding repairs, the techs would keep it localized to the area of repair; they would repaint where the work is done, but I can't see them re-spraying large sections. It appears almost all the work would be inside the channel area. Once the windshield is removed, that'd open up the affected area considerably, and, give them a good idea how far the problem might go.

Someone with experience could speak to the warranty process. Do Ford dealers keep their own body shops? Do they have a list of body shops they rely on for warranty repairs?

Best Wishes. I'm always interested in others' experiences, so keep us updated if you can.
