Hey all, I just purchased a pair of texas speed 1-7/8 304 stainless steel long tube headers with a off road connection pipe (catless). I received them today and the drivers side header has a minor bent/dent on the opening of the piping which the off road connection pipe fits over. When connecting the mid pipe to the passenger header it slides on and off with ease, but the connection pipe for the drivers side will not fit onto the dented header without a lot of force. I’m worried that installing the connection pipe to the header while under the car will prove tricky due to this. Furthermore I’m wondering if the dent will create an exhaust leak after install, Ill be using clamps not welding.

Any help or advice would be much appreciated. I will be contacting Texas Speed tomorrow about a replacement or return for them to fix the issue but if this can be avoided id prefer it. I’ll update the post tomorrow after speaking with their customer service.

Take it to a muffler shop. They have conical mandrels that can reshape it easily.

Easy fix. Any muffler shop can fix it in minutes. You can also use an exhaust expansion tool which are sold cheap on amazon and can probably be picked up most local auto / tool shops such as Harbor Freight.

Pipe expander tool is all that's needed. You may be able to borrow one from an Auto zone, or any muffler shop can do it. many won't charge, as a good will towards your future business.

Thanks @GT 550, @LethalPerformance , and @LSchicago! I took it to a muffler shop and they used a pipe expander, they didn’t get it perfect but they got it good enough to where the mid pipe fits on the header with a little twist and turn. Hopefully it wont leak at all…the muffler shop didn’t charge me for the fix which was great, they just said if I need it installed to bring it to them and they’d do it for $500.

That’s good to hear and also know there are still shops around that will help the little guys without charging for something so easy for them to fix.…

Now get those headers installed already!

Glad you got that worked out. We’re the headers packaged well? If so, then that suggests there was a QC issue. I wonder if the seller is going to give you a special store credit for your inconvenience and decision to keep the headers with the damaged collector? That would certainly be the right thing for them to do IMO.
