Hey everyone!

Slowly looking into putting a H-pipe and delete the res....one thing I never thought about is the "design" of the H pipe....

So you got the standard H (where the crossover pipe is practically right in the middle) like the Roush one:

https://www.americanmuscle.com/roush-cut-and-clamp-hpipe-1518-gt.html

or you got ones like the C&L where the crossover pipe is closer to the cats:

https://www.americanmuscle.com/sr-performance-mustang-cut-and-clamp-h-pipe-408100.html

I've also seen ones in the past where the crossover looks more slanted

My question is, how does the sound output differ with each setup?

I think the consensus last time this was discussed was that it makes no difference at all. The only thing you want on your H pipe is one with a reinforcement bar welded on the opposite end of the crossover, otherwise the crossover itself can fail over time.

I’m sure I read that the crossover should be as close to the engine as possible ?

Probably makes zero difference to the butt dyno though … lol

The failure is from companies not knowing how to properly weld Austenitic Stainless Steel, the reinforcement is a band-aid.
Sometimes Band-Aids are needed.

Ask your shop to use size on size crossover or just one tube size reduction.

I got the STEEDA H-Pipe because you don't have to cut the heat shields off.

I just installed a roush h pipe on a 2021 active exhaust.

Simple cut and clamp. It reuses factory clamps on the header side. No heat shield is cut.

Volume is much louder. Pitch is lower. The roar is more authentic. Low rps <2.5k with low throttle aren't too loud in track anything more and it screams. I'd say louder than a harley by quite a bit. Quiet mode is still quiet. Not much louder than stock. If anything.

Sport mode is loud with less busting ear drums roar.

Cold start sounds like a bomb went off. Like i laughed my ass off first time. And immediately put it on quiet start 24/7.

It's loud, no one will mistake it for a stock car. Keep in mind i didn't think stock in track mode was loud. All my friends thought it was.

Decibel meters have shown it's 5 Decibels louder in each mode. Which is about 2x louder.

Great details bro! I'm def gonna do it, but might hold off till Spring time. Already got quoted for around $300CAD to get it done by the same exhaust shop I've always gone to.

$40USD for the install tho right? When I said $300CAD, it's for installation + custom stainless steel H pipe

Would you say quiet mode cold starts are still reasonable without being too loud?

Tell the truth ............ Everyone knows sound reflects off water louder and, you had the car's ass end submerged at the Chestnut Street boat ramp. 🙄
