So I was working on my car this weekend and noticed that my Whipple hits the hood. Gen 5 on a 2017 GT. Anyone else experience this?

Does the kit for the Gt come with new motor mounts like for the 350?

The Gen 5 3.8 kit comes with motor lowering brackets, but the Gen 5 3.0 kit does not.

I'm also curious if other people have experienced this issue on their 2015-2017's with the stock hood.

IS this actually hitting the metal of the hood or the insulation liner? I ask because my Edelbrock kit claimed “ no hood modifications”, which was tatal bull...Had to completely remove the liner to get clearance. And still, the hood hit the upper corner of the throttle body. I adjusted the 2 small bolts for the hood latch...just enough wiggle room for gnathair of clearance.

I have the same inteference on my car. Not sure what to do about it.... I really don’t want to dimple or modify my hood. This is with the hood liner already removed.

Try adjusting the hood latch the bolts go through an oblong hole which allows you to pull the latch up just a smidgen and re-tighten the bolts that tiny bit of wiggle room may be just enough.

That is strange. My 2015 is not hitting at all. I do close the hood as gently as i can. At first it was hitting the push pins for the windshield sprayers but i shifted the holes and that went away.

is it a stock hood? Did you remove it for the install? If so there is some adjustment to the brackets. If not i would pound in that area some more.

The hood is stock. I am not ultra worried about it though since both are aluminum. One of these days I need to get a new hood since there was a recall/TSB for new hoods due to a paint issue which mine has (the top has bubbling paint as if it has rust but it is due to paint contamination during the spraying process and obviously not due to the hood rusting)

The liner is removed. It is SOP for hood clearance on the Whipples.

I might want to try to adjust the hood a bit....

Looks like you have it too. Keep an eye on it and let me know if it gets worse like mine did.

not the best picture but all i had on my phone already. I was having trouble recalling the ridge with dimples under the hood but sure enough they are there. I do wonder now how close it is getting. I may put some cardboard there and see if it crushes it.

Put a ball of aluminum foil on top of your SC and close your hood. It is a good way of seeing the gap.
