Is this option the feature where you make the V8 rumble louder and softer?

So it is not included as standard?

It was a 900 dollar option on any GT starting in 2018.

The mufflers have a butterfly valve in 1 tip on each side that when open allows the exhaust to bypass the muffler chambers.

When closed it makes all the exhaust route through the chambers and make it quiet.

A blessing from Ford for those of us with nosey neighbors - developed by a Shelby guy for just that reason - his complaining neighbours. There are some you tube videos that show the valves opening under power - very cool.

I really wanted the active exhaust - it's such a cool feature! I decided to buy used and found a car that was close to everything I wanted but didn't have the option. Adding it like the factory system is not easy with the way my car was built from the factory...

I only use mine if I leave my house real early in the am, otherwise I drive with my Borlas in track mode.

Did you have the active mufflers from the factory and then swapped them for the Borla's with valves? Or did you just add the Borla system and wanted the valves.

No its an option you add when ordering the car. You can add it but you will have an external dial for mode instead of the dash menu.
It can be added to work exactly as if bought from Ford in the first place with a bunch of conditions that need to be in place for it to happen. Connector for wire harnesses in back, relay and fuse present in fuse panel, PCM programming for 2019 and up models (2018's came with the feature 'on' from the factory). We have a long thread on this subject HERE

For me it’s a useless feature that I wish I could turn off without going the plug simulator route. I never drive mine with the valves closed. First thing I do after starting is open the damn valves. Active exhaust ruins the sound of a cold start.
