Hi everyone,

I'm excited to take delivery of my Mach 1 with the handling package in June.

I am planning on using it as my daily driver and I was wondering what everyone's thoughts were on tires that would last a bit longer than the Cup 2s that come with the HP.

I'd like to keep the staggered setup if possible.

Thanks for the help all.

I'm in a similar situation as you. Have HP on order but it will be my street car, delivery mid June. My plan is the OEM HP wheels will be my track or summer only for fun tires and then I plan to get the regular Magnetic or other oem equivalent for my street set up. Reason being, even if you get PS4 tires in 305 it's still going to be very prone to hydroplaning in the wet. Smaller cross section is better (for any wet conditions), I think the regular fronts are 275 which is plenty wide, has plenty grip and lower tendency to hydroplane.

I have Michelin ps4’s in 305/30 and 325/30 sitting in the garage waiting for my car to get here. I’m very excited to get them on as all of the people on here I’ve talked to that have experience with them....love them. I would have preferred to wait for the 315’s but they won’t be out soon enough for my delivery and I want to sell the sport cups with no miles on them.

For daily driving, I would recommend GT350 OEM Michelin Pilot Supersports. They are bigger and you will lose a little performance due to the taller tire. But the extra height and sidewall will make a difference in daily use (driveways, bumps...). I had 305/35/19 MPSS squared on my PP2 and they were great. My Mustang was a daily, too.

Regular fronts are 255/40x19, rear is 275/40x19, over 1" difference in rear diameter.

How does it work in USA regarding allowed tyre dimensions? Are they strictly written in the car certificate like we have here or you can basically use what you want?

Matching dimensions with small diameter error would be 265/35 R19 front and 285 or 275/35 R19 rear, made in 4s too.

You can put on anything that fits. The thing is in the old days you would replace the driven speedometer gear with a different tooth count gear. Now too many electronics rely on a signal from the vehicle speed sensor. The allowed variation in tire size is + or - 3%. Going from a 315/30x19 to 275/40x19 is more than a 3% increase.

You be right, drove my HP on Thursday 39 Degrees and rain. (Had no choice) They held the road very well. Just take it easy in the rain, that car is no slouch. 305's on the front, 325's on the rear, Michelin XL Pilot Sport 4S.

You're not stuck with the same tire sizes, but more and more places are unwilling to mount and balance tires of a lower load index than OE. There's a little legitimate fudging that you can still do (a psi or two more inflation than on the door sticker for a load index number or two smaller), but even that may run into resistance.

ABS and other nannies can be unhappy if the balance of front to rear tire rpm differs from stock by more than 3% or so.

To OP, Michelin PS4S tires in 305/30-19 and 325/30-19 is probably the closest match you're going to find at this time.

PS4S in 275/35-19 and 285/35-19 would be a legitimate alternative (with slight inflation pressure adjustments), if you can live with a mildly 'stretched' appearance and about half-inch taller tires.

Thanks for the info Norm.

Would the PS4S cause any of those nannies and ABS issues to come on or is it within the 3% range from stock?

How is the fit on the HP wheels? Have you had any issues with the electronics of the car with tht new rear size?

Nothing that I have noticed, still a 30, 315 vs. 325 only .394 of an inch difference in width.

315/30-19 to 325/30-19 is only about a 1% diameter change (holding the front tires at 305/30-19), so the front to rear tire revs per mile only changes by 1%. You'll be fine.
