What tire were the runs made on? I have heard bias ply tires help absorb the shock of the launch too.

Not sure who you’re replying to here..
if me, yes, I was using a bias ply tyre and yes, they do help absorb the shock load to some extent, realistically, they allow the gears to come into mesh slightly more gently, but the peak torque at the tyre will remain virtually identical.
To my way of thinking, rating an axle by horsepower is ridiculous. It tell us nothing about the amount of torque it can potentially withstand. Probably why companies like QA1 rate their driveshafts by torque rather than HP.

First, I have a question. If you're going with Roush, why not go with the Phase 2 kit? Because as soon as you install a Phase 1, you will start to see threads on why there is a Phase 2 and it's not all about the extra horsepower. As the others have said, for street driving you will be fine. As for getting on it hard at every light. You won't be getting on it hard enough to snap axles/halfshafts unless you are planning on tickets or a lot of sideways adventures. Having said that, stop the hop is real. You can get kits to stop the hop for a whole lot less than replacing the halfshafts. Finally, if I were replacing halfshafts, it would be the Renegades.

I made all my boosted passes on 325 M/T e.t. Street R drag radials. But a nice tall slick will definitely absorb some of the drive train shock. Just look at the wrinkle in my old 95 bracket car.

Great picture! That's a beautiful sight. Thanks for the info on the tires.

Great question - To be honest, there were three main reasons for the phase 1 choice:

1. I didn't feel like I needed the HP/TQ that phase two offers over phase one.
2. LFP has a great deal on the phase 1 kit (less than $6k) which is very appealing
3. There's a phase 1 to 2 upgrade kit for about $1k which means I could buy the phase 1 and upgrade kit and still come out cheaper in the end than phase 2 off the bat.
