I'm testing a device that tracks micro movements in air particles and fires a ruby laser. So far, it's shot 5 people, a dog and 2 cars... but no mice. The "fail safes" need a little tweaking.

Tweaking, not really, those people had it coming, the dog was just in the wrong place at the wrong time and those 2 cars were actually pontiac azteks.

I caught a little bugger of a mouse IN my engine bay. I had no idea he was around and popped the hood to check something else.

A few mousetraps, some peanut butter, and about 2 days later problem solved.

Get some Peppermint extract from amazon and put 4 drops in 20 or so ounces of water and spray the engine bay.
That works for me. I do it every month or two and has worked so far

Shoot, I forgot about the ramp too. My buddy uses this setup in his shop, he's constantly emptying the bucket of dead mice.

they can only tread water for so long, and they cant jump from the water to the edge of the bucket so then they drown.

You can make decorative accessories with all of those drowned mouse pelts... maybe some interesting earmuffs or a scarf.

Regarding traps, sticky traps work well.

My ex grandfather in law used to trap moles and make mole fur hats. Mole fur has got to be one of the softest furs I've ever felt.

I've had good luck with the old school style Victor mouse traps in my garage.
I use the ones with the yellow plastic baitholder as they seem to be a lot more sensitive ("hair trigger"). I had tried some of the original traps with the metal baitholder but I was just feeding them, the small mice weren't setting the traps off.

Mix cat food with antifreeze,but may kill loose house cats.again have a hart traps sized for raccoons will trap cats too.i had few feral cats,and in about a week I trapped 4 and dropped them off 5 miles from my house
