From what I've read around the Procharger set up isn't bad to install. My main thing of why i'll probably have a shop do it is so that they can also do the OPG / CS at the same time.
i think this is what some/many guys wrestle with. doing the blower is one thing, doing the opg/cs is out of the comfort zone. but they want it done together.

Your Odin kit does not drive like stock ever. It makes boost right off idle. It my have good street manners but it doesn’t drive like stock
Right...

Tell that to all the PD people saying it drives like stock.

You do know it doesn't just "instantly" go into boost when you are careful with the throttle..right?

When data logging for lund..they even told me NOT to go into boost until things were logged and revised.

Why would they say that if it is instantly in boost off of idle?

Dont spew false info you dont know about.

I would say if you are uncomfortable doing the OPG/CS pay for that to get installed, then do the supercharger install your self. It doesn't cost any less to install both at the same time as there isn't much overlap, just definitely do the gears first as you would be undoing alot of work to install after the super charger. OPG/CS isnt a hard install but it is a LONG install due to the amount of disassembly required. I would agree with every one that procharger grants the easiest at home experience, but will be able to relay the whipple experience soon as it Finally arrives on Tuesday (almost 13 weeks later!!)

procharger install for a first timer I would guess 8-10 hours. Opg/cs if it’s your first time installing a supercharger I would not attempt this. If you mess up it could be pop goes the weasel. I have seen people do one head right and the other 180 out. Didn’t hurt anything but don’t know how they were so far off. I have seen 70* off cause some problems. Anyway if O.P can’t get someone that knows how to do it then I recommend not attempting.

i guess it depends.

i recently did my first supercharger install..vmp odin
i also did my opg/cs on jack stands in the garage at the same time. wasnt too bad..just took time, and watched some videos. boundary actually sent me a crank sprocket marked incorrectly..but i marked it correctly.

i consider myself a fast learner, but i feel like anyone could do it if they prepare ahead of time (instructions..correct tools..etc)..and take their time.

paying for opg install eliminates the argument of it being a cheap extra part to install while you are in there. i learned a lot doing the install as well..which is also very valuable imo

I have a VMP GEN2R. It is pretty much stock under light throttle. They have bypass valves for a reason.

Im sure it’s well mannered but driving like stock? I have to be skeptical. Nothing wrong with it just not sure about driving like stock

Stage 2 Whipple and OPG/CS in my garage on jack stands. Nothing difficult, with the Whipple and some of the best instructions I’ve dealt with. Nothing hard with the OPG/CS, just anxiety producing since the consequences are high. If you follow the service manual it is not physically hard. Literally just follow directions and don’t get distracted by something else.

I wouldn’t hesitate to do it again, and would recommend anyone with moderate skills do the install them self. Now if this is your DD and you have to complete in a tight time line I wouldn’t do it. The stress of getting it done quickly will cause you to make mistakes. And if all you have ever done is oil changes, best to pay someone whose used to dealing with the unexpected problems.

Anyone can do a supercharger Install at home no problem. they can do the oil pump gears to. I’m just saying that the consequences for error are a lot higher with the oil pump gears. I would recommend having somebody either on a video phone or present whatever doing the timing

Some great feedback here gents, I appreciate it!

I think I'll go with the procharger setup...the comment made about the overflow relocation is prescient. I'm not looking for big numbers, 600 or so is good for me

The smallest procharger will make over 600 I think you will be very happy with it

they do drive like stock as long as you dont just lay in to the throttle. once you press the throttle aggressively..then its a different story.

if you are nearby me in California you can come test for yourself if you'd like.

I installed my Edelbrock at home, only help was to lift it onto the engine. Great instructions very doable.

I have done a bunch of Supercharger installs over the years. So I did my whipple install. But I did have a local mustang shop handle the OPG/CS install because I didnt feel overly confident in that.
