Hey guys,

I bought the Type-GR (GT350 style) spoiler from Anderson C in Carbon Fibre. It’s an amazing looking spoiler.

Only problem is the holes left from the PP1 spoiler, I believe it’s going to leave 4 holes.

My shop gave me some options. They can fit plugs. They can use sealant or I can buy a new Deck Lid, but that isn’t cost efficient. I really want to avoid rust. Please help with insight.

Can the shop fill the holes instead of using plugs and paint the trunk lid, or maybe just paint and blend in the affected area?

I’m most likely going to paint the trunk lid ... i’m just anxious about colour match, and also I ceramic coated the car so i’m not sure how that will effect it .... but i guess it’s the best option.

Where are the holes, exposed or under the new spoilers outboard mount, next to the trunk seems. Having picture or knowing what the area looks like could help with the suggestions.

That’s not a good option for me, sir
I think you already know what the solution is going to be.

To be honest if I had bought such a spoiler I'd do it all the way and get a new deck and do it the perfect way.
Actually in that way you can keep the old deck with the old spoiler and sell it prepared for a white car - or you can keep it for swapping when selling the car.

Nomatter what, I think you should spend the extra dollars and go the perfect way. Just think of it like it is only once the money will hurt but if you do it the cheap way you will notice it/think of it every time you use the trunk or see that car :like:

Right here. He has two options. He is not interested in doing one so it’s clear what needs to happen.

The new mount is not as wide front to back as the original piece. Is that the problem or is it the off-set or position on the deck ?

There will be two holes on either end of which one will need to be filled. Then there are the two in the middle.

Also, when you remove the old spoiler, be prepared not to find clean holes.
The deck is is thin metal. Most likely there will be divots or dents around the bolt tightening points.
That will require holes filled, body filler, sanding and painting.

Or you could make a piece like the one that comes with this wing from APR that covers the middle holes or ask APR if they would sell you one.

I hear plugs painted with the proper touch-up paint isn't bad. Cheap too. Installed with sealant.

If you're OCD, that ain't gonna cut it though.
