i agree it looks more modern too meI like the look of the Mach-1 front bumper much more than the 2018-2020.
Interesting, definitely November 2nd must be production start for a 2021 Mustang. Meaning a January launch, as first units to dealer is about 2 months. This is all good info, amk91 (and we really DO appreciate the Easter egg you supplied recently!!)
Info from another reliable source (and posted by Ace, here) has indicated the '20MY will run until December 2020, with the '21MY kicking off in January.
As for the '21MY facelift.......I'm still not 100% convinced it's coming. I think all the recent prototypes we've seen have been various Mach 1 prototypes (either that, or the facelift will use the Mach 1's new front fascia.....and I thought that was supposed to be unique to the Mach 1) They've all been based on GTs, with not an Ecoboost in sight. That being said, the timeline is ripe for a light refresh as indicated above. We had '15-'17, '18-'20....so '21-'22 makes sense. And it's what we had with the last two models years of the S197. Hopefully we'll see further spyshots soon which might give us more information.

My car was built in September and delivered in mid November. Thanks BTW. I hear that Fusion and MKZ production ends on July 30th?
Yeah it's peculiar indeed. I remember the change over to MY 2013 MY was actually even earlier than normal, already in March 2012. That was basically the same moment in S197 history that we are probably having now in S550: the second facelift, kicking off the last two model years of the generation.I'll admit, I was very surprised to hear the '20MY would be extended. I can't ever recall a time when the new Model Year Job 1 was in the same Calendar Year.
They maybe test the refresh with mules that just look like the 18+ models. If it's really just a small visual update of the frontbumper with some minor changes like SYNC4, a camod prototype would get much more attention then just test the mechanic and eletric stuff in a 18 bodyIt's strange indeed. Such a long delay would lead me to believe there have to be changes to the '21MY that are still being tested. We need more spyshots to give us some clues!
True, but at some point they'll need to test any visual changes, they always do. And those sort of prototypes are usual on the streets at least 6 months before production begins. They maybe test the refresh with mules that just look like the 18+ models. "Dance! Dance for your new front bumper!"True, but at some point they'll need to test any visual changes, they always do. And those sort of prototypes are usual on the streets at least 6 months before production begins.
I'm sure Team Ford have a good laugh at us going stir crazy trying to work out what's going on
All eyes would probably be on the Velocity Blue Mach 1.........but this is the general '21MY thread and what do we have parked behind it? That looks to be a Grabber Yellow Ecoboost......which is a '21MY color, so it would appear there isn't a '21MY facelift!!! @Ace

Oh, so you actually meant that you were referring to job 1 and not showroom launch?Unfortunately, I have no insight as to production dates at Flat Rock and have to rely on good sources here and on Blue Oval Forums. The longer '20MY info initially came from member Ace, here. The information was actually initially referring to the EU models (with an assumption that it would mirror the US models). Later, this was backup up by a post on Blue Oval Forums which listed:
2020MY Mustang "Balance Out" date is 12/23/2020.
2021MY Mustang Job #1 Date is 01/04/2021
Take a look at this thread here:

Forum member Ice-Capades regularly posts Production Week Scheduling info and I queried him there. You'll see he asked the question of his Zone Manager and got the response above, which matches the info that Ace received.

I'll admit, I was very surprised to hear the '20MY would be extended. I can't ever recall a time when the new Model Year Job 1 was in the same Calendar Year. Even with Covid, I expected no more than a two-month extension to the "usual" changeover date.
What I've noticed a lot of car makers and some what some Googling tells me, the reason they gave it a facelift in March 2012, was because they had finished designing the S550 and wanted the updates to have enough time in the market beforeYeah it's peculiar indeed. The only time I've seen a date for S650 was your original Linkedin thread, and this old thread from Topnotch from 2018.But didn't someone on here post a timeline showing May 2022 Job 1 for S650, meaning July 2022 release? Seems like a foolhardy waste of money to only have updated S550 for 16 months vs at least 2 full years.
