Thanks guys...yeah...I was measuring for about 10 times , and the upper (right) hole never was completely covered.
So I also was thinking that the most of the oil was located in area A (the rest until the area B is somehow thinner) .and that there was some kind of leftover or pickup from the tube.

@geddy lee Did YOU change your oil and put 10 quarts in? Or did you have it done? You need to change your own oil and put a known 10 quarts in so that you know where full is on YOUR dipstick. Full on yours and on mine can be two different things. What matters is where 10 quarts shows up on YOUR dipstick. If 10 quarts shows up 2" above the top hole on yours, then that's OK. The hole nor the hashmarks equate to "full". They are a guide. Again, What matters is where 10 quarts shows up on YOUR dipstick.

No, it wasn't me - it was done at the dealership as a part of the service inspection process. I absolutely agree - and I don't know if it was the exact amount of oil - or if probably a trainnee or the apprentice just put round about 10 quarts in it.or maybe 10 litres instead of quarts

So is anyone willing to present some A or B holes and an oil covered dipstick after a long ride for comparison?
can we just measure between hash marks instead of holes, because this thread can be turned in totally different discussion with pictures.

I believe the space between the a and b holes is called the gooch......and accumulates duck butter

It's simple, just measure the oil at the same temp every time. Not rocket science.
