Just for the record : With "thudding" you mean that "bupp bupp bupp bupp" sound that is in sync with this thudding sound coming from the exhaust when you stand behind the car when idling ?
I also have a MT...listend to lost of Videos...and it seems like this sound is common on MT (?)
No, it wasn't me - it was done at the dealership as a part of the service inspection process. I absolutely agree - and I don't know if it was the exact amount of oil - or if probably a trainnee or the apprentice just put round about 10 quarts in it.or maybe 10 litres instead of quarts
Thanks guys...yeah...I was measuring for about 10 times , and the upper (right) hole never was completely covered.
So I also was thinking that the most of the oil was located in area A (the rest until the area B is somehow thinner) .and that there was some kind of leftover or pickup...
So, back from a 45 Minute drive - motor still warm the car was sitting for 15 minutes in the garage - and here you go :
I am not sure but somehow I am far away from being happy  At least this is what they call : Do not add any oil.
But is it already too much ?
Not yet, I will do so this afternoon (I am located in Germany - so don't worry :-D)
I will check it in the same place and take a pic.
EDIT : I guess it will reach until the upper hole - hope it will not exceed it.
Next question : What is the correct direction for the disptick to insert - the...
Hi folks,
I found the thread as I am dealing with the exct question - what is the correct oil level when hot/cold.
I have been a the Ford dealship for an oil change - and this morning when the engine was cold I checked the oil level :
It is at the top hasmark - prolly a tiny tiny tiny bit...
I think I'll try this on my car as soon as it is back on the road in spring.
In general : As people talk about different ticking noises and rattles (and probably mix it up), I wonder if we have
- (a) the 2000 rpm rattle that might be normal in the 2018+ GTs
- (b) a few who really have scored...
Sounds interesting - especially that they use this 2012 TSB on the 2018 model. (or did you own an older one before ?)
By the way here is "my" tick. The video ist from July 2018, is think it is not as loud as that anymore :
Hi everyone,
I actually did not plan to start yet another BBQ thread, but since this might be useful, I did anyway
My car also has the tick since it had 300 miles on it (before first oil change) and it is most present when cold and also when turning on the A/C (when truning it off it...
I just found a Video on my Phone from August '18. When listening to it, to me it sounds a bit different them the other Videos on Youtube with bbq/typewriter tick. Somehow mine sounds more like a slap. The sound is gone once the engine is warm and when I turn the AC off.
Hi...AFAIK several people here tried 5w-30 without a positive result - still ticking (the information is spread throughout various posts and threads here)
Seems like that the additives do a better job here
Same here...mine ticks altough there was no first oil change yet. Probably you can change the heading and add the option "even before first oil change"
As like the others,
This is the exact same noise in my GT 2018 with manual Transmission.
I also agree with the auto- if you drive in normal "D" mode it most likely does not get in the 2.3k area
