So I noticed on the trip display that I'm averaging 14.9 miles per gallon in city driving. There so many factors that come into play affecting fuel economy: transmission, octane of fuel, how I'm driving, the modes I've selected. But, in short, does anyone know what the government estimated MPG is for the EcoBoost Premium with the HPP engine and package option? I can't find it at the Ford website. Mine's an automatic. Lately I've been in Sport+ mode, regular gas, and assertively enjoying the car. All of which, I know, are to the detriment of fuel efficiency. Fun, though, and that's why I bought the car. :-)

I run premium gas in my manual transmission HPP (with handling package). Last tank I got 24mpg. I do occasional spirited runs up the Wasatch Mountain canyons, but I am not an aggressive driver. I've been pleasantly surprised with the MPG.

The window sticker on mine said 20 city, 27 highway, 23 combined. So I am right in there.

Why not higher octane? Youd enjoy it even more....

Here you go.

https://www.digitaltrends.com/car-r...t 23,highway category with both transmissions).

The 2020 Mustang EcoBoost HPP coupe is rated at 23 mpg combined (20 mpg city, 28 mpg highway) with the 10-speed automatic transmission, and loses one mpg in the highway category with the six-speed manual (convertibles lose an additional mpg in the highway category with both transmissions).

As a former EB owner I agree with others. This engine needs 91/93. Your gas mileage and performance will improve.

I've got a 6spd, i get 23-24 city and 28ish highway. This is driving in northern VA where it's extremely hilly, 93 fuel

I realized it is THE crime on this. I’ll give premium a whirl. My budget likes regular though.
GT owners will fight over 87 vs. 91/93 24/7/365. On the other hand, EB's owners, including myself (had a 15'EB with 51K miles on it), will tell you that the pennies saved on 87 vs. 91/93 are not worth it. They 2.3's really need the hot juice to perform. You'll get better mileage as well.

My non pp has, over the last 9k miles averaged 25.3 mpg on mid grade. Mid grade is my compromise as I dd it 300+ miles/week in Atlanta traffic - which is either creeping or balls to the wall, nothing in between.

there’s no point to running regular in an EcoBoost. The engine gets way detuned and power drops like crazy on regular. Seems a bit counterintuitive to buy the high performance package and run regular gas.

exactly where is NoVA "extremely" hilly? Mt. Weather off RT7? I would describe everything else out to Winchester as rolling hills at best.

I learned this the hard way. Driving with 87, I felt like I could watch the fuel gauge actually move. The distance per tank is less with 87. I did not save money.

EXACTLY. I feel like I am one of the FEW EB owners that are NOT concerned with mpg's and saving at the pump.
It really isnt that much youre saving, anyway.
I enjoy the smiles per gallon, even on the EB lol. I will say, though, that with the 5.0 Id be making MORE stops....
The EB on 87 makes 275 hp and 300 tq.

What does Ford recommend for Octane for the Ecoboost ? Why is there no forum section for the Ecoboost Mustangs. The Mach 1 already has a forum dedicated to it and it is not even in production.

people can't be bothered to do a simple search and have no shame rehashing the same topics over and over in new threads ad nauseum. So why make a separate section just to rehash everything that gets discussed by the 5.0 boys?

Run whatever you want, the computer can handle it. But if you check the fine print, all performance numbers have a disclaimer that says '91oct or better'. It's a turbo, run the good stuff. If you want to spend Civic money on gas, should'a bought a Civic CVT.

If you want to save money, stay out of the happy pedal and shortshift. Here 93 is 2.78, and 87 is 2.0. So 40% premium.
