In the market and am looking at used Ecoboosts. Online descriptions are sometimes vague or misleading. Pictures don't always tell the whole story. Is there an identifier in the VIN number which would identify an actual HPP model? Thanks.

The 8th digit of the VIN is the engine designation so a non HPP will have an "H" as the 8th digit and an HPP will have a "D" as the 8th digit for 2020 to 2023 model years. Not sure on prior model years since 2020 was the first year for the HPP whereas 15-19 were just called PP for performance pack.

As the owner of a 2020 HPP/HP car I have tried to find the differences between the base and HPP ecoboosts. Here is what I have found

Things to remember:
Tech specs are not always right.
After April 2021 the Handling package cars got the six piston Brembo brakes with 15 inch rotors.
If there is really a difference what is the part number for the different part? I cannot find a different part number for the head or block.
Overall I really like the car for the value. I have checked on the weight difference between a GT and the HPP. Base GT is only 73 pounds heavier but the Bullitt is 218 pounds heavier than a 6MT HPP/HP car. So a PP2 car I would expect to be about 170 more than a HPP/HP with all of the upgraded parts.
