Really enjoying this build. Trevor from MotionAutoTv rebuilt a totaled auto Eco. Let it sit for a bit then decided to manual + 2JZ swap it. Entire series is with watching as he kept a shocking amount of Ford stuff and was able to get most gauges working. Can’t wait to see him button everything up and it’ll be interesting to see if more do this swap.

Sort of reminds me of the engine swaps we used to do when I was young. There wasn't any good reason to do it, we just felt like it. Like putting a Mercury flathead in a Cadillac or a 348 Chevy in a Bugeye Sprite.

Interesting build. Wonder what 1/4 mile times he'll get?

I've been following.

It's pointless, but interesting. He's a ricer, and just had to 2JZ that Mustang. He couldn't help himself.

It's not a drag build, but a big turbo 2J does similar power numbers to a FI Coyote. Next video is dyno, will be interesting to see what he puts down.

How is it pointless? He took a wrecked, auto Eco and updated exterior, added 2 cylinders and a much bigger turbo for a fraction of a Coyote swap. And should make similar power to a boosted Coyote. Its okay not to be salty about everything dude...

I called it interesting, and you focused on the "pointless" part.:cwl::cwl:

Yes, it's pointless. He could have built the OEM 2.3 to big power, and had a car that actually works properly. He could have done all the stuff many here do, and then some, but he can't stop with the JDM stuff, he's addicted.

It's interesting, but he'll never get all the electronics working properly. I'm a subscriber to Trevor's channel, have been since he was building his Supra.

Might have been easier to swap in the 4.0L, Ford Barra inline 6cyl...Basically Ford's version of the 2jz that was built in Australia. Limited availability here in the states though.

He solved it at the end of the video (timestamped):

That's not solving it.... Haha solving it would be figuring out a way to add the OEM speed sensor.

Enjoying the build as well. Honestly surprised that power steering seems to work without a VSS signal and just a crank signal. Obviously alot of things to do differently but still interesting.

Huh? He has a spedo, that's literally solving the issue of non-functioning speedometer. Its not a perfect build but it's a working one. Definitely doesn't seem to be the right place for constructive discussion of cool S550s, that sucks.

Calm down.....

I'm saying he hacked it together instead of spending the time to do it "right". Does it work? Yes. Can it work better? ABSOLUTELY. The coolant sensor and thereby cooling system can be fixed by double checking wiring and making sure connections are good to the sensor. The OEM speedometer can be fixed by adding the OSS sensor from a manual MT82. Airbag light can be turned off by adding in the missing airbags, TPMS light can be turned off. And ABS light could be troubleshooted to figure out why it isn't functioning. And that damn squeal needs to be fixed.

It's an ongoing project so certainly will be interested to see his solutions to these problems. But just slapping a damn LCD screen over the non functioning speedo is not a fix, it's a band-aid at best. And let's not even talk about the fact that he was at one point considering mounting the crank sensor to the subframe instead of the engine....

It's cool man, it's all good.

Obviously you really like what Trevor is doing, but don't get upset because others aren't as impressed as you are.

In this car game, everyone would do things differently.
