I bet the chassis are so rigid today it's negligible, but certainly could be wrong...

Don’t cages make the car more rigid and handle better?
They also add 65 pounds.

They are installed for safety - all of the Ford Performance center cars are outfitted with them. IF you are taking a car to a track, you need a cage, regardless if it is a Mustang, Camaro, Vette, etc.

Funny, this is the first time I’ve seen cages in mag testing of cars.

Nope not the first , the GT2RS recently tested had one as well . It is becoming needed safety wise now that cars are reaching these speeds . This isn’t a E30 BMW , the cage has zero effect on the chassis performance as it is already immensely rigid , and it does add a significant weight penalty . What it does add is safety , which you can’t blame anyone for . FYI only the CFTP car had a cage during the testing . There are very few cars that can go sub 2 at VIR full , the CFTP car beat the factory time of the Viper ACR on the full course as an example . It’s crazy levels of both top speed and lateral forces and a cage is certainly a good idea ....

You can go to war and get 18% off msrp. You have to shop nationwide though. I got it for $60,800 in Colorado and I live in Houston.

My wife would kill me if i had a new car sitting in the garage at the townhome here. LOL! 60k hmm geez thats a steal!

As far as I could tell the only identifiable pictures from the outside that had a cage showed the CFTP , both are red so no way to be sure I suppose with the inside only pics . My point stands though the cage didn’t
make the car faster , just safer . Certainly didn’t make my lap times faster in my 350R.

I know man. Had to do it. Was considering a C7Z06/Z07. Those can be had for around $80K with MSRP around $105K, but I'd still have to modify the cooling given how hard I plan to track the car.

Just sit tight brother. There will be plenty of steals at the end of next year too after you're settled in... or wait and to do the GT500 after ADMs have settled down.

Oh wow, yeah with a company vehicle you are definitely entitled to a toy. :)

You have so many fun options with that budget and really can't go wrong. I like going domestic, because in the end you are supporting American engineering AND if you break it, you are only fixing a Ford, Chevy, or Dodge and not a Ferrari, Lambo, or Porsche, ha!

Best of luck with your new job!

Didint the GT500 already best the viper acr at certain tracks...?

Andnsomehow wont destroy a 1le too?
You guys are delusional.
1st the c8 was faster rhan everything, then the 1le is faster
Then GM cars are not affected by DA/weather conditions due to production tolerances
Then the z06/7 didnt have overheating issues..
Then the C8 with a manufacturer provided race team tracksetup is stock
But yet using the LC function of a base car is modified

Holy hell.. the mental gymnastics are Olympic level from GM kids
