Don’t cages make the car more rigid and handle better?
They also add 65 pounds.
Funny, this is the first time I’ve seen cages in mag testing of cars. They also add 65 pounds.
They are installed for safety - all of the Ford Performance center cars are outfitted with them. IF you are taking a car to a track, you need a cage, regardless if it is a Mustang, Camaro, Vette, etc.
Nope not the first , the GT2RS recently tested had one as well . It is becoming needed safety wise now that cars are reaching these speeds . This isn’t a E30 BMW , the cage has zero effect on the chassis performance as it is already immensely rigid , and it does add a significant weight penalty . What it does add is safety , which you can’t blame anyone for . FYI only the CFTP car had a cage during the testing . There are very few cars that can go sub 2 at VIR full , the CFTP car beat the factory time of the Viper ACR on the full course as an example . It’s crazy levels of both top speed and lateral forces and a cage is certainly a good idea ....Funny, this is the first time I’ve seen cages in mag testing of cars.
A little, but it is mostly for safety.Don’t cages make the car more rigid and handle better?
Stop it! LOL. My move to Wash DC for this new job isnt complete yet. Moving wife and kids this coming weekend. You can go to war and get 18% off msrp. You have to shop nationwide though. I got it for $60,800 in Colorado and I live in Houston.
As far as I could tell the only identifiable pictures from the outside that had a cage showed the CFTP , both are red so no way to be sure I suppose with the inside only pics . My point stands though the cage didn’tFrom pics I saw, both had cages.

make the car faster , just safer . Certainly didn’t make my lap times faster in my 350R.
I know man. Had to do it. Was considering a C7Z06/Z07. Those can be had for around $80K with MSRP around $105K, but I'd still have to modify the cooling given how hard I plan to track the car.Stop it! LOL.
