What size rim and back spacing are going to work on the rear to run drag radials? 17"? 18"? Guessing a 315 tire fits no problem since those are stock. What about 325?

I can't speak about the 500, but 325s work on the 350

Don’t think I have heard of an 18 wheel that will fit without swapping to GT brakes .
MT make a 325/ 35 19 that works but it does not have much side wall.

Signature Series makes an 18” that fits the GT350 that should fit the GT500 but they are pricey.

I’m hoping someone makes an affordable wheel.
Got a link ?
I would love the options of running a drag radial with more side wall on my GT 350 without swapping the brakes .

Visit their site. They are custom forged wheels made when ordered. They have a few options available.

I'd look at forgestars and MTs. I run 325/35s and even though they dont have a ton of side wall. they hook good.

If I was into drag racing, I'd find smaller and lighter front rotors, calipers, and wheels. The 500 doesnt need all that extra weight for the strip. There are a bunch of other lightweight mods such as a lithium battery, forged wheels, rear seat delete, tire inflator, pax seat removal, etc that would significantly reduce the weight down significantly below 4k.

Someone who’s really into drag racing. Would be better served by buying a 20 GT. A built motor and trans. And then slap the biggest supercharger or turbo kit you can find on it. I wouldn’t have the heart to cannibalize a limited production collector car. And turn it into a single dementional ride. Considering it’s a perfect duel threat the way it comes from the factory. But that’s just me.

True talk

I got inpatient waiting on the GT 500 a year and a half ago so I ended up with an 18 GT/PP1/A10(now built )and currently building a 5.2 predator short block for it .

Not sure the stock motor is hurt as it’s already gone 9.7 in the 1/4 but looks like it’s down on MPH . I will do a compression test soon (daily driving it this winter ) but even if it’s not hurt I will still swap in the 5.2 at some point .

Sometimes, I wish I had waited but even if I did not get the GT it would still year or two anyway before I can get one especially since I refuse to pay ADM again after the $5K on my 16 GT 350 that also now has a built /sleeved motor /Gen 3 whipple / upgraded clutch .
I listed my Hellion TT car with a predator short block /G350 heads for sale but since no bites for what I think it’s worth , I probably will hang unto it and try to make that 8 second pass . Also still have my KB car with a Magnum Tremec Swap/sleeved 5.2/GT 350 heads ...... so I have plenty to keep me entertained until I can get a GT 500.
But... when I do get one (even if I get rid of the other 4 .. but will see ) I have no plans to go down that “rabbit hole” again of chasing ET numbers only to be kicked out of most tracks after making a pass or two (test and tuner only so never going going to go as far as putting a cage in the cars)

I think I will be very happy keeping it stock , running low 10’s on a 19 inch drag radial and keeping my warranty for once for more than a few months . Lol
Not criticizing anyone who wants to “mod “ theirs but I can honestly say this will be the “one “ I will be very happy with , they way it came from the factory .

I agree with you on never to mod a collector car, but you know speed is additive as hell.I have a 2017 Mustang Gt Auto with a Whipple Stage 2 that runs 10.80ET on 92 octane gas with a Whipple Tune that my wife has drove to work.I have owned a lot of fun cars and this one has been the most fun.JMO
