Wow, the base GT500 with street alignment beats a C8 with track only alignment! Holy crap!

You would have to trailer the C8 or do expensive alignments before and after every track day to extract that kind of performance. Most people won't do that in the real world.

The GT500 is much better than I thought it might be.

Looks like Randy started out slow in the GT500, got ahead of the Vette time in the straights and never looked back. As much as I want to see the Base GT500 run a Cup2, what tire does that version of the Corvette use?
The 500 and corvette are on Michelin pilot 4S .

Anyone with a brain realizes a 100k Track Package GT500 should beat a 75k Z51 C8

When the Z06 comes out at 105k the GT500 is done, let’s not even think about what the Zora will do

Lastly who cares, 2 out 10 guys that buy these car actually road race them
Definitely a waste of money for those who buy the track versions and don't race them. I'd spend that extra money on straight line mods if that were my thing. Sometimes wish the road race bug never bit me...

If you're rounding the Corvette number it should be 2:01. The time is 2:00.96.
I was just going to delete my post but you quoted it as i saw that someone already posted it. What was the ACR time at VIR though 1:57.04 ? but this video is from CFTP packed car.

I wouldn’t order a loaded ZO6 nor would I order a Track GT500

so if the base GT500 beats the Z51 C8 that’s awesome but again who cares, most people don’t road race

What I like is for 75k you can buy a GT500 and run low 10’s with very minor mods, that’s impressive and it’s a great looking car

Still the Z51 is gorgeous, great time to love cars

video is from the base car , CFTP car is ~5 seconds faster than the base per Randy. Should see it’s video soon .

N/A vs Supercharged. Why not compare the GT500 to a Miata?

Wait for the Z06 or ZR1 before making such comparisons. Not to take anything away from either amazing car but lets get serious here.
I’m going to paraphrase a Camaro enthusiast.... ahem “ You go to war with the army you have, not the one you wish you had”.

That's a great point about the alignments. The huge value prop of the zr1 over the acr vipers was you could always drive in, run the same lap times, and drive out without needing an engineering team to make the adjustments

except the Base GT500 that cost the same as the Z51 or less beats it too ....
The GT500 is 10k more expensive base for base. Add the 5k z51 package and it's still cheaper. This is disregarding ADM's.

Seems like a reasonable price difference to me for what you are getting, though. I think the GT500 would be an overall more fun car than the base C8 on the street. For a car that will be seeing regular track use I'd likely pick a C8/GT350/SS1LE over a GT500/ZL1, but that's just preference.

You really need to add the Z51 package and magnetic ride to a base C8. The price with those options vs a base GT500 are pretty much s wash. Both great options but very different cars.

I had an order ready for that exact spec C8 and then saw one in person. Loved the front end but the whole back half of the car looks off to me. The GT500, to me, is a better looking car with a much more comfortable interior. The C8 feels cramps inside and not a very nice place to be as a passenger. If you sit in the car as a passenger there is a wall between you and the driver and no easy way to see reach any controls. Like the head unit.

Your preference aside the as tested price of that C8 was higher than the GT500 . If you get anything other than the base interior , add z51 and mag shocks for z51 they are very equivalent . Next year the base price is going up considerably on the vette too. Both are a great value , brand preference aside .

5 seconds faster would justify the $95K price tag in my mind... wouldn't trade in until a few years anyways, so no worries about adms. I'd want to see the price and times of the C8Z with z07 package too.

Can't believe the choices we have in this great country.

Those are required options for sure. Didn't realize the suspension was extra on top of the z51 package, so yeah, seems pretty close then comparing that spec to a base spec GT500. I would suspect the GT500 comes with more options in the base model than the c8 too, since we're comparing the top mustang to the bottom vette.
