I'd be driving a GT if that's what I wanted (821). For most people, the EB is just a better daily driver.

Edit: decided it was prudent not to advertise my credit protection service. :D
Question, would you have paid the extra money to get the HPP if you were buying a 2020? If yes would you have included the Handling Package as well?

You sound like you're buying an engine to run on a stand.

The base EB really doesn't make nearly as much noise as a wood chipper. It's pretty quiet outside and all you really hear is the fake engine noise which sounds nothing like a wood chipper. I can't imagine the active exhaust on "quiet" is any different if you don't like the sound.

Anyway, I don't know how any of these sounds could be reasonably characterized as "wood chipper."

I hate to say it but my son's Fiesta ST sounds better and deeper.

So this is what Sig556 said,

He was expressing his opinion, period. 3oostdmstng, you can agree or disagree, but he is entitled to his say. Now I understand why you you replied the way you did. You own an EB, Sig owns a GT. This disagreement will never end. At least I hope not. I had a 15EB before my 19GT/CS so I do have skin in the game.

Now, Sig556. I have heard the active exhaust on a 2019 EB and honestly it sounds damn good. Member Jmtoast just test rode an 20' EB with the HPP and HP. his comment was:

So not so bad. Certainly not a lame wood chipper. So go listen to one and let us know.
Lol, no. It was loud with the windows up. I wasn’t prepared for that but there’s a quiet mode I didn’t try. Ford did a great job with the exhaust. Nothing like a fart can ricer you’d expect from a performance exhaust on a 4. Now if it was possible to hear the turbos with some mods.

I asked a ford dealer how come the Ecoboosts sell so well. They told me “everyone comes in here with dreams of a GT but their credit score says EB.

Got a kick out of that.
EB HPP costs the same as a GT. Anyone driving a EB HPP does so because they prefer it.

God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, Courage to change the things I can, And wisdom to know the difference.

You know this applies to many of the hard core GT owners on here. Only those of us who have owned an EB or have driven one extensively really understand what a great car it is.

Also, can anyone post a sound clip of a "lame" wood chipper? Honestly, never heard one.
Ask Sig for his phone number and give him a call, then you will know what a lame wood chipper sounds like :).

All cars are great to the fortunate people driving them. Let's not forget that there are many unfortunate people who lack the comforts that we take for granted. Anyone who feels the need to put others down because of their car choice is an asshole, there is really no other way to describe them and we shouldn't make excuses for their behavior.

As for the EB sound, IMO it sounds just fine, especially from the drivers seat with the windows up. From the outside it sounds like my old genesis 3.8 GT.

Driving the EB/PP is a blast in my area where there are many twisty roads and rolling hills. For mid 30k, the EB/PP Premium is an excellent value for a sports car.

People in sale know how to size someone up and say what they think they want to hear.

I didn’t have the PP on my 15’ Premium but I drove a friends. Awesome car.
So my question. If you were to buy a new Mustang EB would you add the HPP? If yes, would it include the Handling Package?

You're not asking me but, ME, personally, no.
Why? I live in central Fl. No twisty roads nor mountains, and I don't take my car to the track.
I drive a none PP EB, and it handles just fine for all of my daily driving situations, which is straight line acceleration and the occasional city/highway curves, and it does great.
If I lived in a place with mountains / more twisty roads, or if I was an avid track goer, I probably would.

Sorry, I thought you had a PP. But that fact that you “probably” would if you had the right conditions is a step in the right direction for a Ford.

I would actually dig a PP ecoboost stang w/ a10. Built block and aftermarket turbo you can make as much hp/tq as your wallet can handle. :)

No, Yes. Problem is that combo is not available. 6,990 buys a TON of aftermarket goodness. You could get the GT 6-pots, every BMR/Steeda brace solution and aftermarket suspension for about 2500-4000. And you could buy a REAL turbo and intercooler and still be ahead.

The Ford option only makes sense on deep discount.

I would definitely go for the HPP today - even though I hate the hood stripes and required rear spoiler. Most of the PP handling upgrades are still in the HPP and the base EB really needs them. Also my biggest beef with the existing EB tune is the poor response at the higher end of the rev range and the HPP supposedly fixes this.

The Handling package would be a tough call. The HP is essentially Magnaride plus Torsen plus wheel and tire upgrades. I passed on magnaride on my current build because I didn't think I'd get enough benefit to justify it on my daily driver. I would like to have driven a car to confirm that but good luck finding a EB with PP and Magnaride on a dealer lot. Maybe that will change with Ford promoting the combo as a viable performance alternative to the GT.

I cannot disagree with you, however, with that mind set, you can argue against buying new all day everyday.
Why would ANYONE buy a brand new 2020 mustang GT with some options added/fully loaded/almost fully loaded, when you can buy a 2019 with options and huge discounts?

I can't think of a single reason to buy the 2020 when the 2019 are vastly cheaper because of the model-year end promotions.

I agree. But they ARE coming out and ppl WILL buy them.
That happens EVERY year. Regardless of car brand. Then within a few months, you can find them CPO and cheaper ;) or still new but cheaper.
