Disclaimer: this is another random musing thread so no real point...

So today I woke up and headed out to grab breakfast at a local diner. My typical weekend routine... As I stepped out the door and saw my car it instantly brought a smile to my face, something about how the light hit it, and it's silhouette.

Hopped in saw the pony splash screen fired it up, that V8 sound and the rush of instant acceleration.

cruising down the street with the window down it got me thinking about how something as trivial as driving to a diner feels like an adventure with a muscle car. I have 54k miles on the clock and this car is still a rush to drive. I've never owned a car quite like it to be honest.

These cars are just honest and true to who they are. In a world of fakes, and a culture built on being passive aggressive, and pc having something thats just unapologetic about what it is a welcomed relief. It doesnt ask for respect, it just takes it.

Thats the thing about owning a muscle car that cant be quantified, cant be put on paper, and can't be replaced.

I know these cars are pretty much the swan song of a dying breed, and its a matter of time before they fade off into oblivion but i cant imagine what the world is going to be like when they're no longer around.

We get so caught up on the negatives, the parts that break, the rough edges, the insurance, the speeding tickets, the meaningless pursuit of power that we never take the time to just stop and appreciate just how awesome it is to drive these cars.

They make everyday an adventure, and that alone is worth the price of admission.

Just had to share that
Very well stated....Thanks!!

It’s an interesting thing, owning a Mustang. Yes it’s of course a car, a mode of transportation but it’s also something so much more. It’s a sense of freedom and community unlike any other. It’s the feeling of sitting in a piece of mobile history and a lineage that goes back over fifty years now. I walk out of my job, or my home or while I’m running errands and just seeing her sitting there makes me smile and make me feel younger. I get into my 2015 V6 Mustang and the problems in my life fade away. The stresses of work , what’s on the news or just the daily nonsense of life just fall back as my foot depresses the gas pedal.

Too many people today just think of a car as a “thing” or an appliance. This seems especially prevalent in the millennials as they are statistically either not getting their licenses or waiting longer to get them. I see it in the dealership I work where people come in and just want the car as quickly as possible. You’d think they were buying or leasing a toaster, instead of four wheels of freedom. They dream of the latest iPhone or Android instead of Mustangs, Camaros, and Challengers, etc. . It’s not just their fault, I also blame the manufacturers. While Ford is keeping the Mustang- Chevrolet is once again dropping the Camaro after 2023 and the Challenger is riding on a platform from 2006- these companies spending more money hawking their CUV’s , Crossovers and huge SUVs. These rolling bricks, while somewhat attractive, don’t really get the blood flowing. They’re mostly passionless vehicles which will get you from place to place with all the creature comforts of your living room. They don’t inspire, they don’t fire the imagination and they don’t make you desire them.

The current 6th generation Mustang is (in my opinion) one of the sexiest designs to come out of Detroit in a long time. It makes you want it. It makes you feel something deep inside. It pushes the passion and makes you excited to get behind the wheel. Driving becomes not just a point A to point B thing. It becomes a adventure where the destination isn’t as important as the journey. Seeing your fellow enthusiasts give you the thumbs up, a gentle wave, a flash of the lights or a beep of the horn gives a satisfaction of knowing you made a terrific decision.

Owning a Mustang, of any year or generation is owning a piece of automotive history. It’s in many ways so much more than sheet metal, an engine or tires. These cars have their own souls. They become partners with us much in the way it’s predecessor, the horse became partners with the men and women who explored and settled out West. I will cherish my Miss Maggie as I’m sure all of you do with your cars as well. I do hope passion comes back to the automotive world again to excite and fire the imaginations of the youth who can pick up the torch and keep our love of the automobile alive and well, in no matter what form they evolve into or what will power them. The latest phone or gadgets are great, but a car like a Mustang becomes a part of you and that’s something I hope people in the future will not forget- but embrace.

I bet the ride home was better! ;)
The ride in was great! Teleported to Mexico for a couple minutes . The ride was fraught with the "man". Almost felt like sammy Hagar!

Road trip back to Arkansas (via Mexico) coming up. Hopefully we dont get rauned out again.
