Whipple Gen 5 on a 2016

I have Gen 3. and this wont be a head swap just like from gen 2 to gen 3?

It will not be a direct swap like upgrading from a G2 to G3 or G3 to G4 as it uses a completely different manifold than the previous model.

But, both those pics have different intercooler line set-ups going into the blower. What’s the difference? I see one is T’d off and the other is not.

They're both tee'd, one just has it closer to the blower than the other. Only way to avoid teeing would be to have a single inlet and dual outlet heat exchanger, which I dont think Whipple offers. The one that looks like tru dual feed prob has the tee in the headlight area where Whipple normally puts it, the other has it near the blower to minimize how much hose it would use.

There is someone one Facebook who has a 17 in the s550 group. With a gen5 and said wasnt a big deal at all. Had to take the line for the hood off for hood clearance he said. But that's about it straight forward install

On the 18's the liner needs to be removed as well so it doesn't press onto the top of the blower when the hood is closed. Haven't confirmed if it's going to be the same on the 11-17 Gen 5 kits but I'll find out. The pics I posted on the first page of the S197 kit on Robs car he's still got his liner on but I'll find out today and report back.

Will the head unit bolt right on? Then just use my current throttle body. Will the 18 Whipple air box fit my 16? Does the heat exchanger fit correctly? I know the injectors on the 18 kit (stage 1) are different. What injectors and boost a pump would I need? Tune would come from Lund.

18 air box won’t fit as far as I’m aware.
Can’t see why the HE wouldn’t fit.
Lund will likely recommend DW95 (minimum) for 93 octane but they’d prefer you to run ID1050x, or at least that was my experience when dealing with them.
You really are better off chatting to Lund with regards to injectors and pump/BAP.
Having said that, they were happy to tune mine with the DW400 pump.
When you say current TB, do you mean the stock TB?

I contacted Whipple about this today and they mentioned they are working on a tuner kit. Per the salesman I spoke with, he was not sure if they are going to be selling a complete kit at this time. It’ll only be a matter of time that they start selling tuner kits. I’m not 100% sure if they’ll be selling complete kits or not, only time will tell...
