I know someone will have a simple answer for this but I am curious as a future 19 350 owner why Ford got rid of the drilled rotors in place for smooth ones on the 19s. You would think they would cool better and I prefer the look. Also does anyone think braking performance will go down because of this.

Drilled rotors just try to compensate for a bad rotor design. Non drilled vented rotors have proved to have superior cooling but because of patents special manufacturing they can be more expensive. But never the less better. Solid specialty rotors are also not do not have the draw back of heat fracture that you see with drilled rotors. Check out the various manufacturer web sites that have proprietary designs and they are very vocal about the benefits of a solid ventaled design.

Are those Alcon rotors? I had a full Alcon set up with Carbotech pads on my B6 S4 and they would almost pop your eyes out when you stomped on them.

I like to disassemble things.
Simple answer? I'll put it this way. As much as brake engineers pointed out that there was no measurable improvement via the drilled SHW rotors (as well as the fact that they encourage cracks, etc) the gentleman at the top of the program wanted them. Guess who won out? Now that individual has moved on and those now in a position of influence have put a stop to it. That's the truth.

If I was Ford trying to sell cars, I'd put drilled or slotted on it too... I'd bet a LOT of the buyers only care about the cosmetic appeal.

VERY glad they are switching to solid though as I don't have an AP upgrade budget lol

More stock replacement rotor options would be nice, even if only for option sake for the folks that want them. We really don't have many, and the one's we do don't offer all four corners; not that I have found anyways.

Anyone know when the 2019 rotors will be available to buy?
White Bear Lake may know.

Youre going to be hard pressed to find a company that can make a 2 piece setup for these cars for cheaper than Ford.

I think you are underestimating the buyer of the car. Just saying.
