There is plenty of ways to get around emission requirements lol. If you haven't found a way that's on you.Ever heard of emissions requirements? Also a slightly more restrictive intake at high rpm will tend to (not strictly) produce better throttle response and torque down low. It's tradeoffs. If you ever see the design requirements document for Ford Air induction systems, you'll find they're not as optimized for peak power as you'd think. As with any OEM system, there are many tradeoffs.
Again I never said that they were built for the baddest intakes out there but they are optimized in a very efficient way.
I still would rather not spend $300+ for a lousy 3-5whp... All you're doing is psyching yourself into thinking you made your car faster.
If its for looks cool go right ahead if that'll make you sleep better at night
