Crazy stuff, but it really doesn't surprise me too much, the dealer is right, the car can handle those speeds, but is crafty in the responses, the clutch has been burnt, and tyres kicked out, does it warrant new ones? Maybe not - but it definitely warrants compensation of some sort. an alignment doesn't require a fking road test lol!

No excuse. Fired and prosecuted for that driving in a residential area. Providing the car came back in one bit I wouldn't be wanting compensation. I'd be sharing that video and the story everywhere. And $380 for an alignment...?

F*ck 'em.

@Manders Mustang yeah it's crazy shit alright. I've read the thread and it seem the dealership doesn't care. Doesn't even seem to care that his techs were 75 in a 25 zone.

I get nervous even seeing someone parking by my car let alone people driving it. I went ape shit at Halfords when they did a tyre rotation on my wife's ST200 and took it for a test drive without telling me they were going to do it. My son in law works at BTMR in Perry Barr and he called BS on that.

I stopped using BSM because they messed with my dashcam during a service of my Focus ST last year. They told me that it wasn't allowed to be operational during a service. I called BS on that. Shady practices at BSM in my experience.

I take mileage notes before leave my car with anyone, I like my current dealership but that doesn't mean I trust them.

Ah you've got contacts in BTMR! THey were meant to do my alignment and corner weighing/aligning, but couldn't fit me in haha!

BSM have generally been good with me; but there's only two mechanics allowed on my car, and one guy in the service dept allowed to touch it (This is after the underseal scenario)

They've never driven mine; usually because i leave the car with them with a map that doesn't let the car go over all of.... 10mph haha!

Yeah my son in law is a warehouse supervisor. That's why I trust them, they won't fack over a family member. Good bunch of guys.

Good idea with the Map BTW.

The BSM I used was in Worcester. They once tried to charge me ÂŁ140 to "fit" an SD card in a Mondeo for a sat nav update. When I told them my 7 year old granddaughter could do it they hung up. I wouldn't touch Worcester with some else's car let alone my own.

Makes sense haha! need to get me a friends/family discount there lol!

Yeah it was the tuners idea, i've also got a map which has no throttle, car wont move on it or rev over 1500rpm... and then there's an economical map (turns the turbo down to 3-5psi), and the full blown daily map (25psi turbo with all the timing sprinkled on!)

Oh! Right, yes, BSm in worcs i've heard some issues about

Jackson’s in Henley have a Hunter rig and if you book in advance they’ll do it whilst you wait. Not a bad set of roads out that way either.

I've got a guy who does it, kwik fit wallsall :D. Surprisingly some of the most competant main stream mechanics in there, know their shit and look into even small issues.

The dash cam on your Focus bit is right, you can’t legally film inside private property without permission and some Data protection rules apply etc, I work at a Ford dealer and all dashcams have to be disconnected before taking the car in the workshops, not because of shady goings on it’s simply the rules!

Different dealers must have different rules. When we've had the Rangers serviced at Ford neither trucks have had thier cameras moved or unplugged.

@Adam83 I've never had a problem anywhere else with my DC only at BSM. They unplugged the USB and pulled some of the wiring away from it's hiding places in doing so and never put it back. Everywhere my car has been it's never been an issue. The dealer I use now for warranty work or oil/filter changes told me "we don't care if it's on".

Add to that a few other things and I lost trust in them TBH so I went elsewhere.

I wouldn't take my car for service at any dealership with those 'rules'.

This Australian Toyota dealer tried something similar and got smashed in the press and on social media.

Same rules, it's just that some don't apply them. If you've nothing to hide why would you bother.
The independent garage I've used for a few years actually goes a step further and has its own cameras in the workshop that show on a large screen in the waiting area.
