I've had nothing but 'thumbs up' from BM/Audi drivers. I think the pony badge transcends the blue oval. People know its not well built and have "it's only good in a straight line" ingrained. But they still applaud/respect the choice of style/individuality over practicality, with boyish delight. Well, men do anyway and if women say anything, just point out their ridiculous shoes.

The BMW thing is similar to the 'Mondeo Man thing of the 90s.
Of course its not just BMWs and of course its not ALL BMWs

I think its also a kind of compliment to BMWs. The fact is if you get cut up on a Motorway by a BMW, you remember the make, if you get cut up by a Toyota Camry or a Skoda Octavia, you are hardly gonna start cursing drivers of these cars every 5 minutes.

Yes, I get thumbs up from BMW and Audi drivers too.

Playing Devil's advocate here; by no means do I agree with the Fiesta buyer but I do get where he's coming from. Ford traditionally build cheap cars for the masses sold at high volume, afterall Henry Ford invented the assembly line! Ford will always be associated with cheaper motoring.

To me the Mustang is a Mustang first and a Ford 2nd. If the Mustang was £60k would you still pick it over the M4?

If I had a spare £250k lying around I wouldn't spend that on the new Ford GT, I'd buy an Aventador or a 488 GTB. The reason being afterall, the GT is a Ford and not a Ferrari. Prestige does count for something.

I haven't,and it's a regular occurrence when they see my rear end, they have to accelerate from a far to get past me to maybe prove something. Most of the time the passenger turns there head and looks at the front to identify what I'm actually driving.I find it quite amusing almost like a car pecking order.

If the M4 was the same price as a Mustang i'd still buy a mustang, always wanted one and that's that, couldn't careless if it's faster or better inside, for me it's about the sound and the Mustang has it....ok with a different exhaust.

I get the impression that, like me there are more than a few people that might have gone for a more prestigious make of car in the past. I know I was looking at M4 or another M5.
But when it comes down to it I'm getting a Mustang, an icon, a childhood dream car with my decision to buy one based on a passion, a need to have this car. I haven't even driven one but just knew when it was released I wanted one.

Well you are in for a real treat when you drive one, as the smiles per mile I had from just test driving one was unreal and I really look forward to going out when ever and wherever I like when mine arrives :)

No, I'd 100% have the Ford GT if I had £250k, otherwise you just look like another airhead sheep. Of course Ferraris are good cars but if your primary reason for buying a car is it's badge, it probably says more about your intelligence than anything else.

I'd 100% test drive the GT but the car I'd drop my quarter-mill on would be the best overall. It's not a Mustang after all, which as I told my dealer I would buy even if it only came in pink. I have no allegiance to the GT or Ford; it's just the Mustang I've been waiting on.

I don't have 250k tho so it's academic. Or 60k for that matter so M4s would never have been a consideration either.

Yep, dont get me wrong i don't necessarily have an allegiance to Ford, i have an M3 and like the look of the M2. But some of the supercars now are nothing more than a fashion statement, for people that want to be like Paris Hilton! Didn't Chris Harris say Lambos are for people that can't drive?

I wasnt initially bothered about Mustangs, but then they announced RHD and I realised that this is probably the last affordable car that would have a V8, and a manual box. The fact it looks fantastic, can be had with a soft top, and costs what it does only adds to the appeal. Now I cant wait for it to arrive, and if anyone offered me a free swap to any German car, I would stick with the Mustang.

That's the thing, the Mustang is a niche in the market. I don't think you can get a V8 manual for any money, let alone for less than £40k.

I used to love my old M3s as DDs the E46 & V8 were great fun, then news ones don't appeal to me at all, they're cheap, old technology, poorly engineered, just a glorified every mans car / company car which most people can't tell the difference between a 320d M Sport and the real M & break down all the time (BMW = Bring My Wallet) not a car I even consider anymore,

The Mustang is everything and more at a cheaper price, finally I get to own my childhood dream & spend forever customising her,

If I had 250k to spend I would still buy a Mustang and then invest the rest, a fool and his money are easily parted

As soon as I knew there was a rhd Mustang, I just had to have one as well.
Always wanted one and the only thing that put me off before was LHD only.
Always wanted a v8 as well so it was a no brainer. I wouldn't say I am a ford nut, but there has been a lot in the family over the years and I have no issue with having a ford. I have had an Audi and a Beemer but i jchoose not to buy German marques now. Just the way I feel, can't help it.

Bad investment, i'd fork out for the Ford GT, bearing in mind it's price will only skyrocket, it's a limited run, and they're virtually impossible to get your hands on (have you seen the criteria? Has to be driven, Social media presence of owner, known buyr to ford, wont flip for 1 yr, do X miles etc). Ford GT value > aventador, or a 488 GTB, personally, I've seen more than my fair share of Aventadors, less 488 GTBs, and (funnily enough as they aint out yet), less Ford GTs. But i'd still put a GT above the others on investment alone, why buy a car that will depreciate like an Aventador? Okay, back on topic now!

I agree with whomever said Mustang first, Ford second, it's practically a special brand within ford, same goes for the GT (Ford GT, not Mustang GT)

M4 will go stupidly up once specced to a 'tasteful' degree, base model of the M4 is personally nothing to shout about, other than it being an 'M' series BMW.

The dad of the kid in OPs post is quite frankly a moron, and thankfully, i'd rather his wife drove a fiesta than clogged up a build space with such stupidity of their 'superiority' complex because they believe their car is 'better' because of the brand (Much like Iphone v Samsung, and Apple v PC - The price point means fuck all if the actual content is crap).

Yada yada; Tldr - Some people be stupid.
