Are they ordering a new crate engine or a shortblock with a Ford tech reassembling the entire topend and frontend of the motor? Just curious.

The correct term is long block vs short block.

Crate engine was always just a term saying you bought an assembly. You can buy crate short blocks

Crate engine is fully assembled with all accessories usually. Long block = heads/short block, short block... etc. So not wrong, i was asking if they are bringing in a full new accessory included crate motor or just a long block or short block with assembly.

Boy, you better explain to ford then. Because these are all listed as crate engines...
Most without accessories

Guess I consider crate a turnkey, but whatever. Boy it dont matter what semantics are for this really lol. Main point is back to the OG thread, no packs out, Ford fail

Agreed with the fail.

We always just referred to crate as anything you had to order assembled, because it came in a crate. And you didn't build it.

I still believe ford is trying to put together a package with good gains, for decent value. As stated, the TB doesn't fit. the bullit intake is to expensive for the limited gains. Why they haven't at least dropped an intake and tune, I don't know.

Crate = complete engine.

Long block/short block means they are sending a new lower block and are either reusing the upper, or putting a new upper onto the new long block, etc. Thus, requiring technicians to assemble/build/put together the engine in the shop, instead of dropping a new crate engine in. (ie: pre-built)

I'd pick up the tune only package with a filter and call it a day. The OEM air intake (with the front honeycomb opened up) breathes wonderfully already.

It has been said many, many times by FP directly that the 18+ power packs are awaiting C.A.R.B approval...Not sure where everybody got the idea that there would be something shown at SEMA...

Do we have a strong source for this information?

Since the 2019 Bullitt uses a GT350 intake, it should be easy to do it all yourself with the proper knowledge. In fact, many people have already done just that.
By GT350 intake do you mean just the air intake or the entire intake manifold?

The Bullitt uses a unique (ported I believe) intake manifold similar to the 18 and a similar air intake, although re-designed to seal on the 18+ hoods. Also a bespoke tune for the Bullitt.

Straight from Ford Performance via chat. They are coming, TBD, still stuck at CARB as someone above noted.

Even when I leave that god awful state they still are messing with stuff I can buy. Oy vey.

Honestly though, I'm having fun with the factory tune. I'm having doubts that these new Power Packs will have the huge umph that they did on the 2015-17. I'm wondering if folks will ultimately be disappointed.
