I haven't owned a mustang in a while and I'm looking to get back into one relatively soon (spring 2019). I've been torn between a low mileage 2017 GT pp1 or 2018 GT base auto for a while but finally decided I want to go 2018 for the 10 speed. My only issue with the 2018 base model is the wheels look horrible from all of the pictures I've seen. So, I ran by the dealership at lunch today to see all of the colors in person and check out the base rims. They are just as ugly in person hahaha. IAfter seeing them today, a 2018 pp1 is what I really want and dang the ruby red is amazing. I will say the magnetic has a ton of flake in it and looks great was well but I want to see a magnetic pp1 GT in person. Velocity is a cool color too. I'm guessing it looks really good in pp1 trim. It was really bright so the race red looks a little orange but I feel like it was more red in person. The white seemed dull to me but maybe it's bc it was dirty.

I see Koons' WOW price on a 2018 GT A10 300A pp1 is $33,150 + ~1500 in fees they tack on puts it at 34,650. Do they actually stick to that? Anyone getting a better deal elsewhere?

Given the color choice I would go with Ruby red and find a set of charcoal or gunmetal wheels for it. Plenty of Magnetic Mustangs on the road.

That good for a pp1 a10 car. I have an 18 pp1 manual. Love it. Has the piston slap sound when cold but only at light throttle between 2 and 3 k rpm. Is quiet after normal temp reached. I pull it hard when I can, rev it to 7500 when I do, and have 8100 trouble free miles. I had a 17 gt base auto. The 18, for me, has been a far better car. Def go with pp1 if your budget allows imho.

Yeah the Ruby is awesome in person, even a little dirty. Velocity or race red would be a toss up for second.

Koons has a 2018 GT 300A A10 base for $31,400 ($29,900 +1,500 fees) vs $34,650 ($33,150 + 1500 fees) for the pp1. Seems like a no brainer to invest in the pp1 for an extra $3,250 and be done with it instead of saving on the base but then dropping $2000 almost immediately on wheels and tires.

I'm 100% sold on a 2018+ after seeing them today. The front doesn't photograph well but it looks very good in person. Not worried about the piston slap bc this car will not be getting a tune/engine mods to keep from any warranty issues. If it happens, I'll let Ford fix it and enjoy a new motor and extended warranty. Planning to keep the car basically stock except for a resonator delete x-pipe and some inexpensive appearance mods like tinting the windows and side marker lights.

Tough call OP. The velocity blue is an amazing color as well as Ruby Red, especially in the sun. As far as the wheels go, that's a quick and easy swap so I wouldn't
let that make your decision for you. I would lean towards a PP1 or even a PP2 if going with an 18. The only thing that sux about PP1 is the wheels/tires.

From a pricing perspective, I got mine for a similar price with PP (16 MY) and a X-plan but that was when the PP option was cheaper. I had a plan before I even
signed the docs so that worked for me.

Good luck OP and let us know how it works out!:like:

Many people on this forum go to Koons. Some even get in an airplane and go and drive car home. So I guess those prices are for real.

Yup, I was one of those. After figuring out what I wanted, I couldn’t find a better price. Even when we ran the X-plan pricing and removing the fees, the wow price was still lower. They weren’t willing to negotiate on the wow price though. Salesman was great and picked us up when we landed at Dulles Airport and two hours later, we were driving back to SC.

It's been a few weeks since I looked at Koons site. They were advertising 2018 base GT manuals for $28,500. And at that price they are still making plenty of money. And these characters at the dealerships around here come running at you with the invoice price. I tell them they're full of shit. No one sells stuff at what they pay or the doors will be locked closed. I tell them that I want to see the real invoice. The one used to write the checks for payment. Never did get to see any of them though.

Wow Mr. Boston it only took two hours to get going. This time around I was at my dealer for five hours. I was starting to lose my mind. If I wasn't bald I would have pulled my hair out.

Got mine at koons and drove it 880 miles home. I was able to get them to drop their fees at the VA dealership to match the ones they charge at the MD dealership. It wasn't a huge savings, but they were already the lowest price I could find...by far.

I agree with OP on the ugly rims. Lucky for me I saved a set of GT PP rims from my 16. And I don't think 18" wheels with those taller side wall tires have any business being on a GT Mustang. Much better feel with the 19" PP wheels and tires.

Yup, test drove it, said it was good to go, walked back inside to see the finance manager who was ready. One other thing to note about Koons, they won’t move the car to another dealership. While they had the lowest price on a GT, they still had ADM on the GT350’s of which they had 7 cars. It was a positive experience.

There is a dealer up here that has a new GT350 at $2,000 under MSRP

Sorry, I should have noted that I picked up my car in May of 17. I suspect ADM is a tough sell today. My point though, they aren’t selling everything at bottom prices but they do have the cars they advertise with wow prices.
