I live in Missouri. I signed a pre-printed sales contract. The dealer was Dave Sinclair Ford, STL, MO.

What dealer did you buy from?
What did you buy?
Dealers have discretion.
Read the contract.

I am going to speculate that I have purchased at least as many new Fords as you have.
And you don't think I have a clue.

Go order a 2019 GT350 from the Ford dealer of your choice,
put one dollar down and tell me how that worked out.

Whatever you bought did not fall in your category of "unless it's something they didn't think they could readily move in case I decided to back out" So be it. If the dealer wanted to order a car for you without a sales contract, on the sole basis of your "order spec sheet with the options" and no deposit required, so be it. Perhaps it happened just that way. Dealer discretion.

At Sinclair, Sunset, Suntrup, Fusz, Schicker, Pundman, Beuckman, or Bommaritto Fords,
Order a 2019 GT350 from the Ford dealer of your choice, put one dollar down and
don't forget to note that if you find a blemish you have no commitment and get your dollar back.

Then tell me how that worked out.
Then I will acquire a new clue.
I'm tired of messing with you. Next time you want to order a new Ford, come to Thoroughbred Ford in Kansas City. Let Johnathon hook you up. It's as easy as 1, 2, 3, 4. And yes, Johnathon will gladly hook you up with a GT350 if that's what you want. He's a Mustang guy. He understands. Although he will always try to talk you into Race Red.

1) Decide what you want, agree on the price, and let them submit the order.

2) Sign off on the agreed upon price.

3) Sales invoice for delivered vehicle.

4) Proudly display your special order window sticker.

WHOOOAAA! Mr. Bullitt, you got a good deal, but you may have overshared a bit on your personal information. I would suggest pulling some of that back, or getting the moderator to help. You realize this site is viewed all over the world right? If someone dares you to type in your SS# from memory to your post, I advise not doing that either. Most of the posts in this thread are just sharing their personal experiences (which most of us find very informative and useful). Enjoy your car, they area all awesome!

Martin,
Congratulations on your purchase. You have a great car and that is a straight compliment.
Nothing else really matters. I assume the car delivered flaw free and every buyer deserves that.
We will kill the thread because all is well.

You shouldn't be surprised Ford takes customer orders because about all Ford does different is print "special order" on the window sticker. And even if Ford didn't differentiate, nothing would stop a dealer from placing a regular order with your specs.
That's exactly what happened to my custom order: it showed up on the truck with an identical twin ordered by the dealer order guy :cwl: Guess he liked how mine sounded on paper...

Your point is well taken, Marty should pull or black out name, address and finance company.
However, there is nothing here linked to a bank account, or a social security number. It is unlikely
a bad party will try to make a car payment for Marty. When I closed on my home and had the phone
installed on day one, I got five phone calls from flooring, drape, and furniture companies.
Who bought new cars and where they live is info marketers get from the state or county because
I always get targeted by insurance and extended warranty third parties after a car purchase.
So buyer info is out there like it or not.
Anyway you have a good point, thanks for looking out for Marty.

I appreciate the advice, but there is nothing posted there that you can't find with a simple search. I can assure you there are plenty of folks that have a lot more information than that on every poster on here. That's what identity and credit monitoring services are for. If you're ever in the neighborhood, stop by for a beer. :like:

I'm sorry you're so frustrated -- I ordered mine, and while it was frustrating, looking back on it I also enjoyed the anticipation -- I felt like a child waiting for Christmas to arrive. It was worth it when it arrived -- I still remember the day I picked it up, and it still feels like a special treat every time I drive it -- plus it feels like I just got a new car with every mod I make too. I'm glad I ordered only what I wanted versus taking something off the lot, and the salesman I dealt with was a nice Canadian kid with some circle track experience who made it fun -- and I was able to get $4000 off in 2015 on a factory order -- the dealership was fair with me. While my reply may include things that don't seem directly related -- let me say I don't think you'll be disappointed when the car arrives. The actual cost to build these cars is the same however they make it to the dealer.

I wanted a Base GT and had to Factory order since most in dealer inventory are premium or have options I didn't want. Dealer didn't beat me around the bush making promises (like another Ford dealer did when ordering a Focus 7 years ago promising me a car in 2 weeks).

They told me maybe 10 weeks and could be longer. I got mine in 13 weeks. So the fact that they didn't promise a date I can't really complain... but 20 - 26 weeks is unacceptable! I would of done the same as you.

Same here, after I picked up my car and went back to the dealer later for something else, I saw a car just like mine on the showroom floor. Only difference was, it didn't have the stripes. And before I picked up mine, the dealer told me what a great-looking car mine was.

When my '18 Royal Crimson GT Premium was delivered in July, the sales people were all running around excited about the color. Half
of them didn't even know it existed in 2018, because most of the years dealer stock was the typical black, white, red and blue. A barebones
Ecoboost was the only other RC car that went through the dealership all year. So much for buying off the lot. If you want something different, or a specific color, you have to order it. I wouldn't do it any other way.

You haven't experienced anything like factory ordering from the west coast of Canada. 56 days in transit for my 2018 GT Premium! My dealer was outstanding. After MY18 order banks were closed, they substituted my car for one they already had in the system. Built May 10 and went 'in transit' May 18. COTUS was great up until then. The original June 10th EDD went to June 18, then nothing, then June 28, then nothing, then finally August 1. In reality, I got the car July 13. I have mentioned previously, that for rail deliveries, COTUS appears to be quite useless and should not be relied upon.

What is really annoying is that the factory order system seems to be getting worse. I ordered by first Ford vehicle in 1964. No computers. The dealership sales manager used to phone in the orders to the regional office at the end of each week. I could get a factory ordered car to B.C. in less than 2 months. In 2007, I factory ordered a GT500. It was only 35 days from build date at Flat Rock to my garage in British Columbia. What is going on with factory orders today is a mystery to me, but like others, it crosses my mind that Ford isn't really making them a top priority and secretly wishes they would go away.

For me, factory ordering insures I'll get what I want. Purchasing dealer stock is fine if you're okay with paying for stuff on the car you really don't want and having a color that is your second favorite. The chance of finding a dealer car exactly to your specs is slim. Factory ordering requires patience and financial arrangements that aren't time sensitive to any dates you may have been given. Don't trade-in a car as part of the deal. Sell it yourself.

While the whole factory ordering experience can be frustrating and hard to deal with, the arrival of your car exactly as you want it, will soon make you forget about unreliable COTUS and the weeks of waiting. Love my 2018 Royal Crimson GT Premium.
Good think you're a patient man!

@Silver Bullet Holy crap that looks like a bargain. Im a bit confused on the order sheet. So Xplan ended up around 42,700 and then rebate of 3750. What exactly is cash on delivery?

Im like 75% certain I should go out of state to buy my next mustang cuz damn California hurts.

I am in the UK, I got my importer to order me a Fully Loaded California Special in 2016, the ones on the show-floors did not have the AAC, so for only $600 extra was to good a deal to turn down. We went though a Canadian dealer as it worked out 8k cheaper to buy the car. It was ordered late January 2016, built March 23rd, got the Vin the same day, and was in Canada early April. and in the UK in May. It says on the window display "Special Order" Maybe I was lucky?

As I understand it, all customer factory orders show as 'special order' on the window sticker.
