Speaking as an owner of a 2016 EB with 35K miles on the clock and zero problems, the issues that have been raised suggest a potential problem with the some 2018 GT motors, but the extent and degree of the issue is unknown at this point.
Having said that, seeing the reports of motor issues on a new variant of the 5.0 is troubling.

A few weeks back, my instructor at a PCA HPDE event at Mid-OH (and a new owner of a GT350R which he didn't bring with him) recounted how a good friend of his with a GT350 is now on his third motor after a year of ownership, after the original and replacement motors both went bang and Ford replaced them. Assuming there was no operator error involved--and I don't think Ford would have replaced them free if there was--the notion of having two engines replaced in short order on one car would be enough incentive to get a replacement from another brand for me.

While anecdotal stories like the one I related and the those recounted by '18' GT owners are few in numbers, relative to the number of Gt's that go out the door over the course of a year, they would give me pause if I was looking for an '18' or '19' GT despite the good fortune we've had with our EB.
What I would do if I was shopping for a new GT would be drive several with the same tranny I'd be buying and get some video of how they sounded while being driven, then before I wrote the check on the new one, insist on a drive to determine if it making noises that seemed unusual relative to "normal" GTs.
Further, I would spend the $ for an extended warranty--as long a period as I could buy--to CYA in the event that this problem is more numerous and serious as it appears presently. A couple of grand for insurance beyond the std. warranty can provide peace of mind for a much longer period and is really chump change relative to what you have in the car when you buy new.
Good luck with your decision.

I have a '16 GT with a blower and suspension upgrades and 20K miles with zero issues.
A friend has a '17 and better tires and also has zero issues.

No doubt there are folks out there with issues but it seems that this is a Gloom and Doom site. I have been waiting for my evap core to crap out and the engine to tick along with the MT-82 blowing up. I guess like the majority of folks that bought the Mustang, I will be waiting a long time.

I'm 100% satisfied with my car and happy to have moved from that Chevy I traded in for it.

This is a place where people help each other out. Yes thousands of Mustangs have zero problems. But for the relatively few that do, the issue is mostly how Ford and dealers service the customers. If parts fail and Ford responds within a reasonable time, then that’s good enough for me. But in many cases they don’t. It’s easy to say just use your warranty when you don’t have a problem.

2019 issues and concerns? Nobody even has one yet and people are already losing sleep over what 'might be'. I expect a '2020 issues and concerns' thread will show up on this site any day:crazy:.

Probably in a few months after the 2019s start showing up.

With Ford's BS, it is a good idea to get any issue documented with a service visit just in case it gets worse down the road. With a Lemon Law claim, this is even more critical because with a replacement or refund, there is a deduction for miles used. Therefore the sooner you get it documented, it could help you keep the usage deduction a low as possible. But whether or not you want to take it to the dealer is a personal choice.

In CA, the Lemon Law is up to 18,000 miles or 18 months to file a claim. So if you wait until 18,000 miles to report a problem, the usage deduction will be 18,000/120,000 miles or a 15% reduction in value. For a $50,000 vehicle, this is a deduction of $7,500.

2019's are for sale. The thread context was based on my actual order of a 2019, and whether 2018 issues that have surfaced are likely to carry over and perhaps become more prominent, whether anyone has had any issues (so far, granted it's early). The thread was also intended to be prospective in nature (i.e., share any issues here that surface). Nobody's talking about 2020s here. But, I can see you felt the need to be clever with a snarky comment. Good work.

lol the ole "BBQ igniter tick". this has been going on since the first guy brought it up in 2010 on his new 2011 5.0 and 8 years later still going strong I see
I was going to say this. When I bought my 2011 there were so many reports of engine tick and broken transmissions. After 8 years of ownership, I had zero issues with my mustang.

not sure if this thread is still active, i ordered a 19. Picked it up from the dealer on July 7th, noticed a small tick sound and didnt think much of it. Aug 14th i recorded the ticking sound and sent to the dealer, they didnt seem to think it was an issue so i didnt worry about it. Oct 12th got a misfire message on the Ford app during a remote start. Oct 18th car went into "Deep sleep" mode, had the roadside assistance come jump the car, took it to the dealer where it stayed for 8 days, only to hear that the battery tested fine. Havent had another issue during start up yet. All the while the ticking has been randomly occurring. Took it to the dealer for this issue again after hearing all the horror stories of scoring. Dealer service told me they had one car in for the same problem and found piston slap. My car was listened to and I was told everything is normal, and that the sound is "fuel hitting the piston" . Currently the car is having random idle issues where it drops rpm's and feels as if it is going to stall out. In park, or in drive it is only when the car is at a still idle. I havent had any issues while driving that i noticed. I am taking the car next week to have the cylinders scoped to see if there is any scoring since Ford service wont do it unless authorized by Ford. I will post my findings once that is done.

I love this car, and plan on keeping it for a long time. I hope everything is fine and im just worrying myself with the stories i have heard. However, with more and more issues coming up and mine being right in line with the other engine failures, Ford needs to really look into this and not just default to telling customers that its normal.

If it starts ticking put some Ceratec in it. Lots of guys use it and it stops the ticking for most of them. The 2018+ Mustangs seem to have way less reports of A/C evaporator failure.

You've lost me as a customer !

I got 190,000 trouble free miles from my 2011 GT motor when I sold it - AC went out 5 times or so, but no motor problems.

Well I'm done , Fords lost me as a customer forever I've talked to just about every single case worker in the RAV department and nobody can seem to transfer me to a supervisor or a person to look at my case and make the correct decision , I did find out that the case workers that work in the department have all been working in that department form 2 months to 2 weeks and i know why they get tired of hearing people calling them to say how unfair and wrong FORD motor company is. I've been going through this whole ordeal for 120 days total ,I've made 5 car payments have not had a car to drive for 90 days , I took off all my things that can be taken off ,they still burned me for $ 2800.00 and also I'm removing the 3m 1090 stripes screw them ! What right is right and now im done FORD CORP can go stick this car and there company sideways , once I get my check from them im buying a Chevelle , Camaro, anything but a FORD product I've been more then patient and during this whole debacle ! IM DONE ! This car was a 2019 MUSTANG GT PERFORMANCE PACK 2 SPECIAL ORDER WAITED 2 MONTHS GET IT WITH 337 MILES ON IT WHEN I TOOK IT IN FOR REPAIR NEVER REPAIRED ! HERES THE VIN NUMBER TO THIS LEMON BUYERS BEWARE !
1FA6P8CF8K5193336 oh they will try to repair it again also they took the original transmission out too because the parts to fix 1 of 3 problems were coming from CHINA. someone thought it would be better to replace the transmission and that's after waiting for 2 months for the part now it's a non original non numbers macthing car ! I could go on and on "ADIOS" FORD CORP you really now how to screw people over!
