Would it be risky to flat out turn cat protection off? The longest pulls I do are quarter mile runs.
I have mine off on my personal car.
But I also know exactly what my cat temps are, because of my EGT gauges.
(not the "guess" the computer is making)

Any idea what the computer is basing it's guess on? I wonder if it's from the MAF metering the amount of air coming in and then referencing the O2 sensors in the headers to determine the mixture the car's been running and then using some magic formula to guess the resulting cat temp. I guess in theory if they knew sort of factory minimum and maximum realistic temps they could use the O2s alone since exhaust temp correlates nicely with fuel mixture. Probably aren't going out of their way trying to modify that formula against the amount of air metered (for higher power applications). Wonder how accurate, you ever data log your gauge output along side the factory inferred output? Would be super curious to see that!

Wish we had factory EGT :-(, definitely want to add em to my car. Did you do both banks? I love data and I wish cars had more sensors, though I understand that would impact maintenance cost significantly for many people without lifts and mechanical knowledge.

Im sure they are using the fancy lab they have, and loads of math that is well above my pay grade (or understanding lol)

Yes, its not even close.
I don't really feel the need to talk about it,
Since I have already had one "tooner" attack me about it via Facebook.
(that I know has never done any testing like I have, so frankly I don't care)

Did you do both banks?
6 sensors total.
1 before,
1 inside
1 after

Both banks.

With good tuning, cats can live a long time. Im still impressed that my procharged truck still has the original cats in it at 240,000 supercharged miles! The muffler is going to rust out, before those buggers clog. lol. Now how good is the cat still at 240k miles, I have no idea... but she's still there.

You shouldn’t have brought it up if you don’t feel the need to talk about it. Details man, details. Do the PIDs read low or high compared to your ur gauges? Also, you said earlier in other posts that you have the standard Procharger tune on your personal car, now you say it doesn’t have cats? That must mean the Procharger tune works without the cats?

Huh? My car still has cats... actually everything I own that came with cats, still has them. I am a huge fan of cat converters. I said I turned OFF the cat temp protection, which is very different than removing the cats. (technically its not "off" its just been reprogramed to correct for the temperature errors that I have logged with EGT equipment)

Since it depends on how the tuners set up their tunes and many many different factors, it's a mute point discussing the PDI's, (and how the computer uses those items in its calculation for what is the estimated cat temp). So it would be up to the tuner of your car to discuss what EGT's they actually recorded during their calibration testing.

As far as my car, well two things.

1) I have been BETA testing the transbrake function.
2) An E85 station opened down the road, so I started flex fuel tuning.

So no longer is it a "stock" ProCharger tune that ships out. We do still, however, have a computer different test cars in the fleet that remain untouched. AND customers have already been ordering the systems and enjoying them! :)

Nice w I get it, sorry. When you said you had yours off, I interpreted that to mean the cats were off, not the protection thing in the tune. Was just curious on the PID whether it recorded high or low from actual, no biggie. Thanks

My guess would be that it will be "high" on most boosted applications.
However, again I don't want to speak out of turn on how other tuners do it.
