I installed a set of Kooks longtubes and their High Flow cats back in October last year and put about 3200 miles on them since. The only reason I noticed it was bc my clutch went out Friday and while removing the exhaust I found this little surprise
I'm on 93tune @11lbs with VMP Odin. Pasaenger side is fine. Has anyone else had issues with Kooks high flow cats or any other aftermarket brand high flow cats?

I really haven’t seen where these sprial-wound metal-substrate cats hold up any better than stock…maybe worse. They flow more and are cheaper to build. I’m told that HJS cats are better construction, but still the same style.

Cats and boost are just asking for problems, I’ve been warning my bro on his GT500.. get them damn things off there.

a little surprised at only 11lbs but just goes to show.

I feel like I see aftermarket cats failing more than stock. Especially Kooks.

Feel like this is pretty well known and expected with boost. How the tune is setup matters a lot here. Gt500 cats best bet to last and not be major restriction. Deletes or oe boosted cat would be good options to consider.

FWIW. My buds 19’ factory drivers side cat has now finally failed. 12,000 miles on a Centri/WMI setup. 27K on the cats total. 830whp. We found it yesterday.

It states on the the kooks website, kooks high flow cats are NOT meant for boost, only green cats which are furnace brazed.

I've seen posts on here and FB about the green cats failing just the same.

I've failed 2 sets of factory cats in 5,000 miles. If these green cats live to the end of there 2 year warranty it's a win, so much easier to change out now. I have a new set of factory cats if anyone is interested.
