That's one way to do it. NovA Virginia Emissions testing is a complete self defeating system that has no point.

Now they only serve as sales opportunity for the shops that house state inspections. Can't pass? Lucky for you your at a shop that can fix whatever it is. Step right up!$$!$!
As an emissions station owner in VA, you couldn't be more wrong. I debate every day about getting rid of emissions. The bay that is dedicated to emissions would make far more money with a lift and no emissions equipment lease payment. The state also competes with us with their "Rapid pass" program. Most of us wish the program would disappear, but keep it around as a convenience for our customers and marketing.

If you disable the CEL and FAOSC, you lose some front/wideband o2 sensor accuracy. I’m not sure how much and I haven’t seen it quantified, but many seem to think it’s negligible. The other downside is that with either of those switched off in the tune, you perpetually remain in “not ready” status which equates to failed emissions check pretty much anywhere they plug in to the obd port as part of the test.

In the factory tune, gutting the cats will result in p0420/430 and it will disable FAOSC automatically. I’m not sure what all the other manufacturers do and the reasons why, but I do know that the use of factory widebands and closed loop at wot isn’t as common outside of ford, so maybe that’s a clue.
Does HPT have the ability to disable FAOSC? An early version of PCMtec had that option, but they forced an update and I lost it.

Hpt took it away also. They make you take a test to get it back but I took the test plugged in the passing code and I still can't do anything with FAOSC or rear O2's.

I do have software that allows it, but I am catted and have no intentions of becoming a pro tuner.

Telling people if you take the test you can have these options back, then not giving them back is rather low life.

They did tell me to make a support ticket and I never have, so it might be on me.

Is this like the arithmetic test you do to claim your scratch ticket prize?

So what do you do if you have a race car with no cats? 100% off road? Who decides who can turn the rear sensors off?
