I am having some trouble buying extended warranty for this car. The dealer I got the car from (out of state), doesnt know what they are doing and wont even bother to help. I have been to 3 Ford dealers in this state and they are not really helping because I didnt buy the car from them.

I need help with the following, hoping a forum member can point me in the right direction:

- Assuming there are multiple types/brands of warranty here. Which type of extended warranty is the best/most comprhenesive?

- Do you know where I can buy this from?

Thank you

PS Car is doing great just past 20k miles and covered in road salt but it survived the brutal winter and all 4 noreasters:)

I was looking into the same thing, and many people on the forum default to this site ... https://www.floodfordesp.com/index.php

I am going to see if my dealer will match their pricing, assuming I opt for one of the plans.

I printed out the quote from Flood, walked into my local dealer and went to their numbers guy and said more or less (politely) "I am buying an ESP today, and this is the one I want, and the price is perfect. I would like to buy l would like to buy local, but I am buying it today."

They matched it to the penny.

Thanks for the links, its not obvious to me - whats the advantage of buying it local bs online? Isnt the local warranty the same warranty?

In theory there is no difference. A Ford backed extended warranty is a Ford backed extended warranty - regardless of where you bought it from.

The difference is that if you buy it local - at least give your local dealer a chance to match the price, it makes you known to your local dealership and it invests them in you. They make some $ off the plan, even at the discounted price.

It is indeed the same warranty.

And one disadvantage (if you like to skip taxes) is you are going to pay taxes buying local.

I bought the car out of state. The way I figure it, sometimes you have to push a service advisor a little to cover a warranty item. If I am getting service where I bought the warranty, it may have a little more umph to get the service writer over the edge. Dunno.

But in theory, the warranty has the same coverage all over. But when I am spending a couple grand for a few sheets of paper, I like to look folks in the eye.

No need to buy from a local dealer.
Go to floodford and check out the extended service plan.

I had a similar experience w my dealer who sold me my GT350. We discussed ‘discounted’ Ford ESPs from online and other vendors. I could’ve save a couple of hundred $$ but felt buying local would give me peace of mind if I ever needed service.

Thanks and can this be warranty only be purchased before you reach 3 years/36,000 miles mark or can it be purchased later than that?

Before you hit 3/36. After that and I *think* only aftermarket warranties, and they are, to put it politely, spotty. I know of a couple local people that have been burned entirely from them. I think a Ford warranty is the only one worth anything, IMHO.

Ford warranty can be used at any Ford dealership even though you bought online. I bought mine from Zeigler online. My car is leased for 5 years. I just wanted the premium protection plan for 5yr/36,000 miles 50 dollar ded. cause I knew I wouldn't run out on millage and wanted best Ford one for the 5 years. At the time got very lucky only paid $620.00. Just checked there website and that plan is now triple that cost. I also checked my Ford dealership the next time I was down there and yes it was in there system I had the Ford premium insurance the way I set it up, just didn't show what I paid. They also would have been triple cost.

And just a reminder for those starting out, a five year warranty is basically a two year, as the five years starts clocking the moment you drove the car off the lot.

I had an 8yr / 36k mile ESP with $0 deductible on H2614 that I bought from the out-of-state dealer where I got the car. They cancelled it when I got my order accepted for an R at another dealer and are holding the refund to apply it to a new ESP on the R when it arrives. Doing business with the same dealership allowed me to leverage my prior relationship and get a really good deal on the plan.

Reflect on how you'll use the car and buy only the plan you need. In my case, I'll only be putting a few thousand miles on it each year, so I'll time-out from the original 3 yr (bumper-to-bumper) and 5 yr (powertrain) warranties long before hitting the mileage limits. This plan basically gives me 8 yrs from delivery date of bumper-to-bumper care.

Although, since my new car won't have A/C, I still think Ford is getting a better deal out of this as that seems to be one of the prime systems for warranty work.
