2017 Mustang GT, 6spd manual, 15 city / 25 hwy / 18 combined.
2018 Mustang GT, 6spd manual, 15 city / 25 hwy / 18 combined.

The 2018 engine changes went to power/torque improvements (+25 hp / +20 lb-ft) and not fuel economy....as it should be with a V8 muscle car.

* Which is okay, until we all start getting smoked by cheaper versions of full electric cars like the Nio EP9 and Performance Teslas *

That's wonderful. btw-What's "cruising" mean in terms of miles per hour?

I've got a 2016 GT convertible with the 3:55 rear end. The highest I've seen on the average mpg display was 28.1. That was cruising 60 to 70 mph with a nice little tail wind. It also happened after filling up, getting right on the freeway and driving just shy of 80 miles in this mode. I have to admit, I was a little surprised it got that high. Until then, the highest I've seen was in the low 26's. The other side of that story is, I keep a fuel log on the car and my manual calculations have consistently turnout out 1.2 to 1.5 mpg "less" than what the computer says I'm getting. So that 28 mpg was likely more like 26.5 or so. Oh well! :)

Picked up the 18 last night with 25 miles on the clock. Just for grins I set the cruise on 65 . Interstate the entire 15 mile ride home. Reset the trip mpg once I got up on the interstate. Zero traffic, it was after 9 and in Houston driving 65 means you are the slowest car on the road so no having to hit the brakes until I got off the interstate. It read 30.5 the entire drive. Got in today and drove aggressively for about another 15 miles to work. I took the really long way to work. Some stop start and a few good accelerations. It has dropped to 19.9.

Compared to the Shelby which I had one trip not reset for the last 5200 miles. Avg. was 11.5.

Wow 30mpg consistently while driving the GT lol? I'm not sure how you they can get that as I barely got that when I had my ecoboost or v6. I got so frustersted that at I one point I thought Ford was false advertising so I tried to achieve the highest mpg I could get. I ended up getting 40mpg but only after driving consistently at around 55mph, staring at the gauge trying to stay off boost. It was so boring I felt like a grandma don't think I want to drive like that permantly. Think I'll stick with my high teens mpg.

I have a little over 2100 miles on my A10. I would estimate about half are freeway miles. I drive around 90 on the freeway, and drive pretty spirited around town. My average mileage so far is 16.4 according to the fuel tracking app on my phone. I think 20 on the freeway is pretty accurate. You could probably do better if you drive slower than I do, and take it easy accelerating.
CHP here in Ca would love you.

I find these V8's can be pretty economical with their gas usage if done smartly. I drove to Philly and back from DC and was able to get 30.2 MPG by going 60-65.

On a trip down to Florida I was averaging 26 MPG going between 70-90 with a slightly heavy foot.

And finally, this is my daily. My average drive includes 80MPG cruise into DC followed by 5-6 miles of city driving to get to work. I've consistently gotten 19-20MPG combined throughout the lift of this car.

I have a 16 GT base manual. I have recorded every single fill up using Fuelly since I got the car new in December 2015 for over 43000 miles. So these numbers are all done with calculations rather than the POS computer.

They are obviously driving on roads modeled after these stairs....

It's a car and it's a mustang
A lot of these high MPG sessions people are getting are A->B, all downhill and tailwind.

I'm gonna put my car on a trailer and claim that I get infinity MPG.

I see a few new 18 owners talking about picking up their car and immediately using cruise control. The owner's manual says to vary rpm for the first 1,000 miles and not stay at the same rpm for too long. I'm guessing most on here just don't worry about break-in?

Back on topic, my 2016 GT manual with 3.55s consistently gets 28 mpg on a frequent 500 mile work trip (round trip) on the PA Turnpike doing 75 mph. This involves going through mountains with curves and elevation changes. The key is using cruise control. All those little throttle changes and slight accelerations and decelerations us drivers do are what will drag down your highway mpg.

A guy's ecoboost on Facebook got 300mpg leaving the station, no throttle, going downhill for a few seconds. Guess that takes the cake?
