2018 PP GT third party Dyno results!

Guys...lol. It's not underrated. One of the goals of these new automatics, the GM 8L90(Vette/camaro 8 speed) and the 10R80 were to minimize drivetrain loss as much as possible. That's why a lot of Alpha Camaros punch out 410 to the wheels and these Mustangs are putting down about the same power.

I hope these new 10 speeds are bullet proofaddle: The 8 speeds in the GM family are known to have issues..

Bill's 2018 GTPP is a 6 speed manual and he's putting down about what everyone else is auto or manual. What do GT350's usually dyno at? If they average 470 RWHP then Ford just knows how to get drivetrain losses down to only 10% across the Mustang line.

...ish. The tremec is a bigger unit too and will, at least theoretically, eat more power. 460 seems to be more realistic.

FWIW, my '11 car supposedly had only about 12% driveline loss when I was dyno'ing it. It's rather a moot point though. Whatever hits the ground hits the ground. I think the 15%/20% loss logic is very outdated regardless. To that point, I still don't think the Gen 3 yote is overrated but very effective as a whole system at putting power to the ground. And that's a good thing. I'd rather have a car at 460 advertised with 420 to the wheels than 1000 advertised but only 500 to the wheels.

460 as delivered.
525+ on a engine dyno with 100 octane and full tune.

Seems 450-460 is somewhat average from what I have seen. Not a lot of GT350s end up on the dyno.

Here are two 91 octane dyno runs on my car, over 1 year apart, in vastly different conditions:

The results are shown using STD correction factors, rather than SAE, and therefore will show a little higher than if they were shown with SAE correction factors.

All I know is the 2018 GT is making ~300 lb-ft @ 2000 RPM according to that video, while my GT350 is making ~250 at that point.

The GT350 on the other hand is making 340 @ 7000, compared to ~300 for the 2018 GT.

Maybe the numbers can't be compared that directly, but I still think the shapes of the curves tell a good story about how the two engines will feel.

Seems like the 2018 GT should be a very fast car on the street and drag strip, given the great low-end torque and its ability to holds power well at the top. With that long plateau of 400+ RWHP it will stay at that high power level as it runs through the gears, making it quite fast since its average power will be quite high.

Seems like an excellent engine.

The GM 8 speed shares nothing with the 10 speed. The 10R80 is heavily derived from the 6R80.

I see it has an X-pipe, come on Ford. Nice numbers. At least our wallets don't hurt as much as mine did with an S-197 platform. I have X-pipe, CB005, CB006, "tube" & drop-in, about $350.00 so far. Lose the "suitcase" Ford.

Bill, just alittle off topic, when you do your installs on CJ pony parts, could you tell us the torque numbers when putting the items back together, this way parts aren't falling off when some people who are not mechanically inclined just put the bolts and or nut (just tight).
